I had a pleasent experience with a Hunt last night

There is a lot of negativity towards Hunts, and it's been there since the feature came out. Now, I am in no way saying there isn't something wrong with this system, it does need some tweaks. But with all the bad tidings and negative play experience people have been having, I thought it be nice to break it up with a tale of something good happening.

Last night while I was working on my Botanist, I came across a B rank Elite hunt. Just out of the blue. POP, there it is! I was sooooo excited! My first mark, teehee! No one was around, so, I let my FC members know where it was. Six of them showed up, and then after that a bunch of other players started gathering around the mob. The FC mates and I were partied up, so I said we were going to pull, and we did. Everyone joined in afterwards and I got to complete my very first Hunt and my FC mate got their B-Rank achievement.

Now, the cool things that happened.

Everyone waited until our group pulled. There was a pile of our FC people there and it was like people acknowledged that we had found this hunt, so they waited until we pulled. Which was just super awesome and very respectful. I know it's open world content, and I know it's not first come first serve, but I just really liked how with all the shouting and arguing about people pulling this and people pulling that, that such a thing didn't happen with us.

The other cool thing was that the Tank that was there for another group didn't try to steal agro. Our Monk held Aggro on the mob the whole time and the Tank was just happy to punch away at the Mark without trying to take it from us.
It was just awesome, and, most of all, it was FUN. There was no shouting, no name calling, just a quick little group up and then we pulled and the people around us jumped in after we had a few seconds to beat on it.

I hope everyone gets a chance to experience a Hunt like this, because I think it really does make you view the system in a different light.

In my experience, this is what it's like doing hunts during off-peak times. It's extremely fun until the neckbeard raiders with their exclusive linkshells and radars log on. Then everything goes to hell.

Eh you don't really need radars. Our group of LS we have on Excalibur has probably at least 150-200+ people searching on peak times and at least 100 on nights. That many people and you find them no matter what lol.

If that's the case, I may have to do more hunting in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday. If this feature was like that all the time, I'd be having a blast with it.

I've only actively hunted once and I had a lot of fun. I don't really see the problems with system, the issue lies with a minority of the playerbase. Once you have a few time of deaths you can generally perform quite well
Though I will say my fc weren't having such a good time last night, there was a lot of complaining... but I think it was a small minority pulling and not waiting for people.

The smoothest experiences ive had with hunts are definitely late night/ early morning, when the majority of americans are offline.

I didn't know you could put Hunts and pleasant in the same sentence. Best times always to do Hunts is when everyone is asleep or right before maintenance hits.

Is a much bigger problem than anyone using cheats when it comes to hunts. There are simply too damn many people doing this stuff at once.

I've had a few pleasant experiences, usually while gathering, when I find a B or A rank just sitting there. Usually I just /shout and people show up. Once I didn't get full credit because the people who showed up were 2 full parties. They did let me pull, but I still only got 3/5 credit. That's a little irksome considering I could have just solo'd it for full credit, but since they raised the HP (I think double what it was on B rank) it takes a while to do that.

As a PS3 user I can't really do many of the hunts that pop up because there's too many players to load so I can't even see the monster. I would like monsters to load first like Odin.
