They should apply the Rule of Fun to this feature.

Is it fun to be locked out of your PvP Level just because you want to play with a friend in another company? No? Then it shouldn't be.

This is a game. Games should be fun. There should never be anything in a game that is not fun in some way. This is not fun. It should not be in the game.

There are other costs to changing GCs that don't cripple gameplay for a time. This cost doesn't need to be there to help stop players from changing GCs on a whim.

I remember hearing something about them maybe eventually adding GC-specific PvP abilities, so I can see it for that, but, even then, it's still not fun, so it shouldn't be.

Fun and Friendship, this is pretty common argument from mordern days gamers. Lore is not important in front of Fun and Freindship. System is not important in front of Fun and Friendship. Nothing is important in front of fun and friendship.... vice versa and goes on........

Let's take WoW for example, my friend plays Human for the Alliance, but I myself is a Blood Elf for the Horde. In the name of Fun and Friendship, why the hell we cant not play together? Why? This is a game. Games should be fun. There should never be anything in a game that is not fun in some way. This is not fun. It should not be in the game.

If you are weighting Friendship and Fun so much, you need another important element: the sacrfice. You guys do not want to sacrfice for each other. This comes back to one intersting issue, are you guys really friends? I would do anything for a friend, but that is just me.

And don't you even try to pull the whole "do it for your friends" business. That's entirely beside the point. The mechanic in the game is not fun. In fact, it is explicitly unfun. The "sacrifice" you're mentioning is entirely arbitrary and unnecessary. It should not exist in its current form. Make it fun, or at least not unfun, or scrap it. No one likes being forced to reset progression for no reason other than "because it's designed that way".

Also note that the Rule of Fun, as I call it, is not just some sort of recent gamer's fad. It's actually a game design concept that's been sweeping the video game industry since the industry came to be.
