And can we cut the Lala argument before someone says something to get this thread locked? I can already see it getting out of hand.

Bottom line is, people claimed that she did so that they had an excuse to discriminate against her.
It's a debate (which is perfectly acceptable on these forums) and no one seems actually mad.

To get technical, Lalas have eyes designed to look larger which the human brain associates with youth. Puppies, kittens, and babies are generally thought to have large eyes. Lalas also do not have developed breasts or muscular structure, much like a child wouldn't. A short person, once past adolescence, would still have defined musculature and breasts.

It's pretty obvious which ones Lalas look more like. Anime fan or not it's blatant that Lalas are designed after children, not short adults.
ETA I have nothing against people who play Lalas, I mean if you want to be cute and adorable and have pinchable rosey cheeks, that's your call.

I don't see a post that says this.
Large eyes is a generic anime style.

And, again, used to portray a youthful and innocent appearance most of the time, which is considered attractive in Japanese culture. You notice how the large muscle bound men in anime usually have small eyes or just lines as if their eyes are closed, or that extremely sexualized anime women generally have hair in their eyes or one eye covered so that the overall look of innocence from larger eyes is diminished.
ETA elderly people of both genders in anime also generally have smaller eyes.
Well, regardless, if that's the only thing you disagree with in the entire point I've made, then I'll have to accept I faulted on that detail.
Nobody was discriminated against, the polls weren't rigged, she lost the first round and that's that. My thought on it is, if she had tried to play up a more fun or cute picture, instead of trying to be serious/adult-looking, it would have panned out for her. Lalas aren't designed to look serious, adult, or sexy, so trying to portray any of those things as a Lala is probably not going to end well. Have to work with what you're given. I'd look equally out of place if my Elezen tried to look as tough as a Roeg. It's just innate racial characteristics. And that's my last two cents on the matter here, because I don't want to derail the topic anymore.
