Too bad we're not on the same server, origami, because otherwise I'd be right there with you making things more difficult. Screw reward. With the state of the game now, reward is the last thing anyone should care about. We just need to have fun with what we've got until SE gets around to giving us the rewards that we've deserved all this time. Besides, doing stuff on easy for now doesn't impose much of a reward anyway.

Ah, but there is a purpose to this thread. Several actually.

First, I'm a crippled geek with nothing to do but camp the forums and watch for people to reply to my thread in order to stroke my own ego while my GF is at school.

Second, I wait for like minded players on my server to post so I can recruit them into my super elite LS that is so awesome we go out and sneeze on Ura and watch her die (Chuck Norris is in our LS, btw.)

Thirdly, I'm genuinely interested in why people -don't- play "hard mode" when it is available, and if this thread leads to some illumination on that subject and sparks some debate - which it has started to do - then I understand another point of view and maybe (rose colored glasses again) SE will see the issue in a new light as well.

In short, its just an ego stroke for me. Honestly. I swear.

That's because it DIDN'T serve a purpose other than to advance the epeen that he so desperately needs to survive in life. Origamikitsune is offering his own thoughts on how to make the game more enjoyable for those who think its too easy, not saying "hey look what I did, I'm better than you, prove me wrong with a video or gtfo".

There are most definitely hard things to do in this game. We've seen Kaeko solo all the Top 5 NMs. Every mob in the game sans maybe the Lv.99 Qikiroon Mercs have been killed. People have leveled fishing not using bots or grade 10 waters. (lol)

But is it really hard? Or is it more of an endurance challenge or finding cheesy game mechanics to use? Throwing multiple lancers to stunlock mobs or throwing multiple thaumaturges to cheese mitigate huge amounts of damage doesn't necessarily make me feel like this game is a challenge and I shouldn't have to be forced to low man things to give me that rush. If I want to play with 8 of my friends and find something hard I should have that option just as much as someone who has 8 friends who wants a more casual and relaxed experience should have that option.

I hope SE takes this into account in the future so that both sides of the board can be catered to w/o having to sacrifice something in return to get what we want.

Ah! Yes! The post with the Ogre video! I didn't realize that was who posted it. My apologies for the snippy response to you! ^^;; While I can say it didn't inspire me in general (I am forever in search of people willing to do just that sort of thing) it did give me something specific to do that sounded interesting enough for seven other people to join me! I will definitely and freely admit that the /reason/ I posted this thread was (in part) in direct response to all the nay-sayers on that now locked thread (both a FU to the people who thought it was just stupid, and as a "its not as easy as you think" to all the people who said it was pointless 'cause it was so easy; I admit, I'm in the latter camp. I stand corrected, and I'm very happy to be proven wrong!).
