    Definitely a valid point. As others have brought up in a few threads, the bottom line is that the original FF XIV Team created Conjurer and Thaumaturge as we see them now (a mix of WHM / BLM / RDM type spells interspersed between them). IMHO, the current Conjurer and Thaumaturge classes don't feel unique enough from each other in some ways.

    Now with the new team, they are going in and trying to revamp the Job / Class System to bring some "Final Fantasy" back into the mix.

    Would it have made more sense to scrap / re-write all Classes as Jobs and go from there? Probably.

    But then you factor in changing all the Class Guilds, their Class Quests / Storylines / Cinematics / Planning on when to earn everything, etc., and it'd be a pretty substantial amount of work starting from 0 (total scrap and re-design).

    Time will tell - after they debut the full New Job System - how all these changes are going to pan out. Right now, both classes can be argued to be a "better Black Mage" or a "better White Mage."

    But ultimately, I'm glad they *are* revamping the Classes / Jobs. I'm cautiously optimistic to see how each Class / Job will feel and their Class Uniqueness in combat.

    Yeah, I don't care about the changes all that much. Something's gotta give. But all this worrying about systems and balancing and all that kind of technical stuff, it's getting in the way of what always made "Final Fantasy" "Final Fantasy": the story!

    Time *will* tell, Kiara. Let's hope they do get around to fixing the guild quests, dialogue, and cutscenes to match the new system they create. And let's hope for some voice acting, too!

    It would also be kind of nice to give us the option to reallocate ranks like points, since SE is bound to undo a lot of people's work. For instance, a r50 thm who is a healer would be able to reallocate his ranks to the new conjurer class, and remain a healer, without having to level up a completely new class to r50.

    A point made earlier in the thread was that "one job per one class." However if I'm not mistaken, we have no word on whether or not each class can only use one job. All I've seen (multiple times) from Yoshida-P and the Community Team is that each class only unlocks one job. Not that each class can only use one job. While it would be a logical assumption that unlocking one job means you can only use that job, it still isn't confirmed/denied that you can cross-class your jobs. So far we don't know much about jobs:
    1: Classes unlock jobs 1-to-1
    2: Jobs level up with the class that unlocks them
    3: In the future, there will be jobs that require multiple classes to be leveled up

    Unless I missed something, this is currently how it is.

    i agree with the 'time will tell' thing, and i do hope it will turn out for the better.
    But 'right now' the reality is that both can equip each others heals, attacks, and buff/debuffs. Con has a exclusive spell. What does THM have over CON thats worth arguing that is better in any genre?
