Hmm, Every time I've run it (BLM) I've always picked up the adds and killed them away from the main boss. I don't know that I've ever done it where the healer kites them.I've had this issue many times in SV HM. Tanks are 100% supposed to pick up the adds (or at least DPS should be kind enough to try to get them off you). Yes, they buff the boss and yes they stack. But ONLY for 15-20 seconds and they're easy enough to deal with (I have had no issues healing tanks through the extra damage/speed the boss gets). I don't know why they keep expecting healers to kite them, because if they don't get you with their auto-attacks, the heavy debuff (that, for whatever reason, can't be esuna'd) and the DoT will definitely kill you.
@Viridiana
They could, but in general tanks are supposed to be picking up adds. They're the ones designed to take damage. DPS don't hold hate like tanks, so you always could rip the adds off them again.
@SummerRider
In pugs, most tanks just don't wanna deal with trying to run over to a healer who has adds. I usually run over to the tank when they spawn as a hint, but 8/10 they won't pick them up. Then I go hug whatever DPS is trying to help me (usually DPS at least know to kill adds).
But that heavy debuff will get the healer killed. Usually after the debuff comes out, the boss does his AoE and since the healer is so slow and they might still have adds on them, they get 1-shot. I had once where I got heavy'd at 3% so they burned the boss. I lived, tried to esuna myself at least a dozen times, while the party made their merry way on to the next adds. They did not wait for me and died, then proceeded to cuss me out for not esunaing my own debuff.
If you get hate from an enemy and the tank isn't able to provoke it from you right away for some reason, the right thing to do is to run to the tank to pull the extra enemy there, not push it away when the tank will have even harder time trying to get it back.![]()
Meh, they're pretty weak adds, at least at the gear level most people will be doing this at. Maybe at lower gear levels it might be a thing, but I feel like they're supposed to be killed away from the boss.
Last night, duty roulette into Cutter's Cry. Simple. The tank is running through, so we're skipping stuff like crazy. Cool, because I'm there for the tomes. Every time the tank grabs trash, the DRG doesn't avoid AOE's, so I'm healing him constantly. He wipes during the second round of trash. Before I can swift cast and bring him back, he resets and comes back. Fine, I protect and shield and he wipes again! I want to type, "I have 2.48 seconds between Cure II's, so try to avoid some AOE's" but the tank is running so fast, I just keep up. Again, I'm not there to make friends, just to get the tomes to buy my book to move to Animus. We get to the final boss, and of course, I'm the "Single" target every time, so I'm dodging the void and the boss hits violet every time. Aaaaargh! But I keep everyone alive except, guess who. He just keeps staying in every AOE! We get through without a wipe, so I'm happy and I see "This healer sucks" in the dialogue box. Seriously? You can't stay out of the way and I suck? Newsflash, there can be as 5 seconds between heals, and that's if you're the only one I heal. That's plenty of time for you to get waxed if you're not properly geared or keeping yourself out of AOE's that even the tank avoids. I just transported out, but part of me wanted to type something. Still, it would have fallen on deaf ears, I'm sure.
I had a pretty bad experience awhile back in Hakkue manor normal. It all went fine until Amadine and her adds pop up. We all died because I was getting hit too much to heal through the damage. Usually a Tank or DPS at least picks up the one who does the void fire attacks. The others are fine at least but the Void fire moves hurt. I think they're instant casts from the Manor Sentry. Anyway... so nobody helps me and we died. Suddenly I feel like the eyes are on me. We return to Amadine and the Tank says to ignore all the adds. I say not to because they'll keep hitting me and I can't heal through that because I'll have to keep running and dodging. So adds show up, I literally had to run around the place getting hit, trying to keep everyone and myself alive. I was ignored throughout the whole fight. Tank dies and Black mage dies. I manage to swift res the Tank. We manage to beat her and I say not to ignore the adds and it just felt like they were all ticked at me. Like I did something wrong. They all left after that without a word. No commends obviously.
I really dislike Hakkue manor as healer.

I am still not on lvl 50 as a WHM,but my worst experience until now was in Stone Vigil as I got paired with a PLD that didn't use flash... So first pull of 3 mobs and I got aggro from other mobs than the one he was tanking and died quickly after that.
Another one happened to me in Sunken Temple of Qarn,where a meelee DPS was eating every AoE that bosses used,so I let him die and focused on the other DPS and tank,since I didn't want to use my mana for raising someone who would die quickly afterwards.After first boss he was so mad at me for not healing him properly and when I told him that he should avoid AoE he left.
As I play healer,my hate for DF is increasing at an incredible rate...

Back when I was still leveling my SCH, I was doing Bray nm for levels and the Battlemage gear (still never got that damn top). I was running with a FC-mate and two others found through DF. The tank didn't hold aggro very well but he was good enough to get through most of the dungeon...but then we got to Aitar (or whatever the dragon's name is). At first the BLM stood in the puddles, as he was new to the dungeon if I remember correctly, but after a quick tip he started avoiding them. The PLD though...oh god, he took all the straight line aoes right to the face, and either left the boss in the puddles or stood in them himself, or both. He would not listen to anything the rest of us were telling him either. Of course, as a SCH I didn't have leeches yet so I couldn't carry that much bad through the boss, don't even think a WHM could since they would end up OOM halfway through the fight like that. We wipe a few times and the tank seems to be getting annoyed. Luckily, he leaves and another FC-mate comes in and tanks and we breeze through the boss. Funny thing was we didnt even ask anyone in the FC to help he just apparently was doing roulette and ended up in our run after the tank left.
Duty roulette trail- Titan HM
first weight of land after heart phase, 5 casualties.....x 5 times.

You probably haven't had him use Rake with a crapton of stacks on him, then. It'll all but one-shot most tanks. Our first time through, he chunked me for about 6k damage on an i102 PLD. Tanks really shouldn't pick up these adds. Heal/DPS should be dragging them into a corner and killing them asap. Personally, I grab this boss and take him immediately to the far corner to give them the largest amount of room possible to keep stacks off the boss.Tanks are 100% supposed to pick up the adds (or at least DPS should be kind enough to try to get them off you). Yes, they buff the boss and yes they stack. But ONLY for 15-20 seconds and they're easy enough to deal with (I have had no issues healing tanks through the extra damage/speed the boss gets).
Four DPS pancakes and a heal pancake on the side? >.<
