THM sacrifice themselves to heal and damage others. It would be counter productive of them to inflict this on themselves for a more powerful version of resurrection. It already doesn't make sense that they have it to begin with. It's just something placed for convenience.

    The lore was already broken.

The Arzzaneth Ossuary does not know how to communicate with the dead, but adventurers can raise and resurrect fallen comrades...

I know that the argument is that adventurers don't die in FF but are KO'ed, but the name of the spell Resurrect contradicts this detail. ( "Raise" is a little more ambiguous )

It does make more sense with the given lore to make thaumaturges the primary healers. And it makes absolutely no sense to take elemental spells away from the conjurers.

Which I find disappointing. A disconnect between story/lore and the rules system runs counter to the spirit of the entire FF series. I hope there is a massive lore rewrite to match the changes to the mage classes.

It may be one class unlock one job or multiple classes unlock one job. At current development stage, what can be confirmed now is, jobs are built upon classes. Frankly speaking, it's actually the same concept with the classes system we have now. Only things different are, instead of let players decide what roles/jobs they can be from combining actions across different classes by themselves, SE now gives job titles out with specific requirements of classes ranks and add some corresponding gears/actions to those jobs.

Incorrect - It was stated what level you unlocked the job at the job would be the same level, e.g unlocking Scholar @ Rank 22 Conjurer would unlock Rank 22 Scholar.

That sounds... odd. Do you have that source as well Jennestia?

I did find the Bayonhe post by the way: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...734#post186734

He does say that jobs aren't unlocked at 50. But that also doesn't contradict my earlier point. One Class per job. Multiple jobs per 'advanced' job.

Yes, it does make more sense OP. Unfortunately, it isn't our call though.

THM are basically priests. Granted they are much darker than we would ever expect a WHM to be, however they are the ones who preside over life and death, dark and light, not Conjurers. Even the name Thaumaturge means miracle worker. The definition of miracle: A surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is considered to be divine. Conjurer, on the other hand, means sorcerer.

These changes to raise make it almost certain CON is going to end up the WHM archetype since it wouldn't be very logical to add these raise spells only to remove them when the job changes go through in a later patch. If this is true, I don't agree with the decision but it is their game. They can do what they want. I just hope they move all the elemental spells over to THMs so they aren't cross classing their main skills from CON just to make BLM work.

I thought that they said at this time there will be one Job for every class, later on they might expand this by adding more jobs. I also thought they said they might make it to where you can take two classes, combine them together to open up an Job that is a combination of the two classes. Also that they would not only be adding more Jobs, but classes as well down the road.

SE seems to have a lot of ideas on classes and jobs.

In FFXIV, classes are not jobs, but you can create your ideal jobs from combining actions across classes.

For example, if you think a your ideal WHM can not only cure but also take a target's MP to keep your heal energy always full, you just need to put Siphon MP in your action list. Accordingly, you can even be a magic swordsman, magic archer, etc.
