So now that fatigue is going away....what about Gathering Fatigue?

Since we've gotten confirmation that fatigue will be removed with Patch 1.18, I'd like to know if Gathering Fatigue will be addressed. For those that don't know what I'm referring to, this is for example what a Miner or Botanist will experience when gathering after a certain amount of time. When this occurs, you will start damaging the items you gather more often, making it harder to obtain materials.

In my experience and others who I play with, this seems to occur after only 2-3 hours worth of gathering and requires you to wait 24 hours before gathering again. Is this ever going to be worked on?

If Gathering Fatigue is a way to keep the market from flooding with materials or something similar, I feel that you should be able to gather for a little longer than 2-3 hours (5 or 6 possibly) as a lot of players use these classes to farm their own crafting materials (rather than pay inflated prices in the wards). I feel the system punishes legitimate gathers for the sake of attempting to cull RMT bots. I also feel the system should not share fatigue between gathering classes.

I'd like to know what everyone else feels too about Gathering Fatigue and it's pros/cons.

Edit: Here is the dev response regarding Gathering Fatigue (thanks Griss!)

    "Hello fellow adventurers!

To clear up your questions, we have checked with the Dev. team and found out the following.

As a countermeasure against RMT activities, the probability of gaining items through gathering will start to decrease after repeated attempts over a long period of time. After a certain number of attempts, items will no longer be obtainable through gathering.

To explain a little more on what goes on behind the scenes, there is an internal counter which measures how often a player has attempted gathering activities. Players will start with a maximum pool of 2,500, which will decrease by 10 each time a gathering attempt is successful and yields an item. Once this number decreases to 1,000, players will find it harder to obtain items. At 0, items can no longer be obtained through gathering.

Stopping gathering for some time will bump this number back up. The recovery rate is currently set at 100 per hour.

If you have ideas and feedback on this topic, please don't hesitate to let us know."

I personally do not like gathering fatigue, and i really hate that the pool is shared between all three gathering classes. But in the recent gathering q&a hidden amongst the we will look into it's they stated that gathering fatigue is staying where it is.

Can you post a link to this? I don't remember seeing this in the recent Q&A so I'm guessing it was a previous one, but I don't see it on the Lodestone either. Thanks!

Edit: I found it, updating the OP as well:

They must change to more reasonable like fishing fatigue in FFXI.
Also, each class has it own fatigue will be much better.

    Keep the fatigue.

The economy can NOT get out of hand like FFXI did.

I just hope they do something about "Crafting Fatigue" (i.e. the overwhelming feeling of depression and guilt experienced after leveling a crafting job for more than 2 straight hours)...

Anti-RMT measures should never have anything to do with the convenience and enjoyment of the game for fair players

Well your pick: Either this fatigue system, or fight-with-bot-for-gathering-node system that many other MMOs employ. It isn't as much about RMT as it's about in-game economy, where resource input needs to be controlled one way or another or we will have a serious depression/collapse. A work-around they should do however, is that full SP should be given for failed gather due to fatigue, people would complain a lot less.

I agree remove or change the fatigue system, at least give us full sp and no items. Doesnt hurt the economy that way.

Have said this since the beginning of that game, this imo is much worst than the surplus system
