The most difficult part about SCoB is finding 7 other people who wont suck it up and cause hours of wipes.
Reality check: most people already have job which has nearly if not all the soldiery pieces for it. You can get 3-4 sands/week, raiding gets you a lot less, even with good rng. Also, The Hunt really isn't all that much effort since now, you have an online spreadsheet and website doing all the calculations for you on the approximate time of respawn. Just park yourself there, wait, zerg stuff, move to next target.

You really can't say that this is a lot of effort.

Hmm you may be on to something. Possibly this is a new strategy to beat Turn 9 easily, aero and succor spam.

I still think hunts should drop High Allagan gear and weapons.

    Make it happen SE!

Maybe a rare drop of some i120 gear would be nice too. Like once you get a High Allagan weapon from a hunt, there could be like a mirror, similar to leviathan in which you can upgrade your High Allagan weapon to a "Very High Allagan weapon" (VHA for short). This would be innovative and cool content that I think most people would like. The mirror could make the weapon glow a hot pink with like sparkles.

Of course this mirror would drop from hunts or maybe could be bought with some seals. I think maybe 450 seals or something like that would be good cause that takes a long time to get.

Seriously, I give ideas like this away for free when you guys should be paying me.... :/

End game gear should come from a variety of sources to encourage players to do a variety of content. I'm of the opinion that some BIS should be gear earnt through PvP (now they've sorted out the glaring problem that was morale) which would encourage people to know their role better than just how to pump out maximum DPS in highly scripted fights.

"That's some nice DPS there raider, shame you've let yourself get separated from your healer."

Or how about some BIS gear from crafting to actually encourage some kind of functional economy (though this is steadily improving already now, at least on Balmung.

Having top tier gear coming solely from Raids is a bad idea.

Sometimes I just speak total nonsense. When that happens, please ignore me as much as possible.

On the upside, my character is adorable! Ignore the nonsense! Embrace the cuteness!

What skill is required in a system that drops and lots are random?
is the player who rolled a 3 on an item really less skilled then someone who rolled a 90?

In before the 'but I had to learn the turn' argument.
Yes, you learned a turn and the other person learned the dungeon. except you did the turn once per week and the other guy did the dungeon 10 times (or even more stuff to get capped) per week.

Seriously, why people want to cry over what someone else does is just sad.

You don't need to invest dozens and dozens of hours learning to kill fight mobs for seals.

In 2.0 it was RAIDERS getting i90 (allagan) w/ i95 weapon (allagan); CASUALS getting i90 (myth) w/ i90 weapon (zenith)
In 2.1 it was RAIDERS unchanged; CASUALS unchanged
In 2.2 it was RAIDERS getting i110 (high allagan) w/ i115 weapon (high allagan); CASUALS getting i100 (soldiery) w/ i100 weapon (atma/soldiery)
    In 2.3 it is RAIDERS unchanged; CASUALS getting i110 (soldiery+hunts) w/ i110 weapon (novus/soldiery+hunts)

What's the problem? i110 is raining from the sky (not really) because in three months we will get another huge item level bump for raiders (third coil). Second coil is practically old hat at this point. i110 is entering the "gear up all of your alts in it" phase; but filthy casuals are still limited by a weekly soldiery cap. Raiders / hardcore players will be i110 in all jobs by then; no casual will be able to say that.

Normal MMO response: Hell yes you can. /whisper FC_Member dude some ilvl 108 blm is going to help this will be cake!

    FFXIV MMO response:

    1. Have you beaten Titan HM?
    2. Can you dodge landslides
    3. Do you know that you shouldn't spam Fire 3?
    4. Have you ever raided in a real MMO?
    5. Have you beaten Turn 2 enrage method?
    6. Can you beat Turn 3 trash?
    7. Do you know what game your playing right now?

Since theres about a 90% chance that despite what any ingrained MMO logic would tell you about level of gear being somewhat representative of skill level... The guy likely couldn't manage the "if you get a red mark over your head run to the A mark behind the boss"
You also have to consider that in FFXIV there's the additional *issue* of being able to gear up alts without playing them. This applies even to raiders.

A player may be a great tank for his static. That does not mean he is a great BLM. However, he can still grab surplus gear from his raid to gear his BLM. This isn't possible in other one character = one class games.
