    I like it how people already know the skill list to know that rogue don't have steal.

    I don't know, when the guy in charge says, "We didn’t want to break the lore by naming classes based on our personal feelings, we wanted it to make sense with the story. So if you see Rogue in game, just in your mind, replace it with Thief. The class and the job and the way it works is really close to Thief, so just think of it as that. Thief won’t be coming as a name." I feel that's pretty damned final. Complain all you want, it won't change that.

    No decision in game design is final. Every single MMO I have ever played has backpedaled on some major design aspect or another. So I will continue to express my opinion that I want to see a Thief job. And it fits in quite easily with the lore. The people saying otherwise just don't want to admit it (Game leadership included). Black magic, for instance? A lost, forbidden art. No one wants it in their city, yet we can get the job. If rogues developed from Thieves that means there could be some lost specialized knowledge that can be turned into job skills. There are ways it can easily be fit into the lore of the game. There's nothing in the lore that says "No one steals anything. No one can ever be a thief."

    MMOs change and evolve though - well, while true they all want to mimic WoW to the ends of azeroth and back, nothing is ever truly final.

    Actually, "bleeding edge" would be appropriate too. It means at the forefront of development, usually regarding technology and often hinting that it is so new that it is more dangerous or expensive as a result.

    OMG seriously guys! Thf has been played like rogue SINCE ninja came out in FFXI. It went so far that SE GAVE THF dual weld which is what rogue has from start. Yoshi has not stated what the skill set would or would not be. The only thing I see people mad about is their is not any mention of treasure hunter/ gil drop increase. Which ARE minor to what the class brings to party exp. As stated before they where a support class that controlled and dictated threat. Most rogue classes do that in almost ever MMO. With this move it opens the class up more. Only problem I do see and would support is if the class would lock abilities if you choose to stay rogue. IE Ninja would not get ability to use, if they add to the game, an sneak attack or trick attack or threat migration action.

    Yeeeah, boosting drop rates is never minor in raid content. But thankfully, (I guess) nothing in FFXIV that's worthwhile comes from regular monsters in raid content.
