Yeah, each Grand Company has a division of adventurers that retain more freedom than most of the enlisted. For the Maelstrom, this is the Foreign Levy. In the Adders, it's the Yellow Serpents. In the Flames, it's the Free Brigade (part of the Foreign Brigade, which also contains the Ala Mhigan Brigade).
