No it wouldn't. You still have long wait times cause too nany people are still playing as dps.

How many? An infinite number? No, of course not. So let's say there's 100 dps in queues with 5 tanks and 5 healers popping every 5 minutes.

If each of those tank/healer sets takes 2 dps how long will it take to go through 100 dps in queue?

How long if they take 4 dps?

You can already do this. It's called make your own party.

This. Have done with my fc 2 tank run which truly sucked because we progressed slower that if there would be 2 dps and I know my fc members have done runs with 3 dps and healer also.

Nope, why would you want to bring in another tank/healer when there are so many DPS on queue? A bad DPS still does damage to speed the run up, unless that DPS is dead most of the time, period.

Don't need to tell me about good DPSing tanks/healers though. There are, but not as abundant as bad DPS, so bringing in a bad DPS is still better than any random tank/healer on DF.

Yeah, keeping tank and healer and just opening one slot wouldn't help anything. Wouldn't even change anything 99% of the time.

But if opening slots is your thing, I'd rather see a "party roulette" option for all dungeons. That simply means the DF takes the first 4 people it finds, period, regardless of role. It would be risky, but could be fun to try with oddball combinations. Of course, this would be an option, it wouldn't replace the normal setup. You'd get to choose which type of run to enter.

I would prefer simply increasing the max party size by adding dps slots, but not requiring them to be filled to start.

It could certainly make for an interesting challenge.

Yes. Obviously, as I said it would be optional, so it wouldn't be like you're forced to take the risk of getting something like a 4-BRD party. But for those that like to roll the dice, it would be something different to do. personally, I run wacky-combo dungeons whenever I get the chance.

You can already do that with a premade party. Unless you are giving people bigger rewards for taking this risk, no one will do it. You literally cannot win without a healer (and not the lol cross class healing) and people would probably start to drop out the minute that the random classes aren't synchronized well. I remember a few occasions on Ifrit HM where several party members immediately quit before the fight began because we had no Black Mages to AOE LB the nails; something like that would happen too often in your proposal.


Say "it's optional" all you like, but I'd like to see you or anyone else try to progress through an instance without a proper healer.

why not put an extra free slot and keep things the way things are, have a fifth person to a 4 ppl dungeon. Arcanists have a pet with them which makes a party of four=>five so have a fifth person but make it optional cuz if an Arcanist shows up then a fifth person cant come in.
