    You know, they said retainers can show up while gathering... wonder if that's a battle retainer and their disobeying Carbuncle?

    actually the carbuncle's name is Ruby. Its master is a Miqo'te in white that wanders the market in search of it, sniffing and calling out for it. This NPC also comes out of a building a couple of times.

    I've seen it hanging out on the various ropes that span between buildings. Also the fact that the NPC ACN named her Carbuncle makes me wish we could name ours

    I'm guessing it's canon then that Miqo'te have a heightened sense of smell.
