Less people raiding also increases the demand for raiders, incentivizing people to be creative, tolerant, and patient. If there aren't ALWAYS people to replace someone who might not be as experienced as you would like, or who might not be performing quite to your standards, ya might find it's easier to invest some time in your fellow raider, rather than bail or kick. A higher demand for raiders means a higher percentage of raiders will become experienced.

I'm not sure if it would actually work out this way, but I would like it very much if it did.

"Only accepting applicants that cleared T5 pre 2.2" rules out a lot of skilled players... simply for joining the game late or not focusing on raiding soon enough, etc.

They shouldn't have been making content that hard to begin with, since most Final Fantasy fans fall into the category of mainstream and casual gamers as opposed to hardcore gamers. Plus, you don't need statistics to know that the hardcore gaming crowd for MMORPGs has been in decline for some time now. There used to be half a dozen excellent tutorials per boss for the more popular MMOs, but nowadays you'd be lucky to find just one good quality video that explains things right.

    BAHAHAHAHAH

tell that to Emerald Weapon, Omega Weapon, Yiazmat or Absolute Virtue.

FF has always had hard core content.

You mean Final Fantasy XI, which is an MMO. I recall grinding between 1-2 months to get Ochiudo's Kote. Fished for about 6-8 hours a day. People do not have the time to make a game a full time job. Also, Absolute Virtue was a mistake. Players were literally passing out from exhaustion trying to fight that boss.

I was merely pointing out that most FF games dating back 20 years or so, whether they were MMOs, single player RPGs or whatever (tactics) have had optional, hard core content in addition to the main quest. The idea that FF has a history of fluffy bunny casualness without any very difficult content (outside of Mystic Quest) is absurd.

I've played every Final Fantasy game since the first one and I have no idea what you're talking about. No mainstream Final Fantasy title save for the odd-ball FFXI had content that is anything like what we are seeing in FFXIV. There were certainly good, hard boss fights in those games, but comparing those games to FFXIV is like comparing a gold fish to a whale. They may both be animals, but they're magnitudes apart.
