Everyone is really REALLY missing their intention here. It's blindingly obvious that they're simply trying to extend the economic life of the old philosophy materials as long as possible because they havn't come up with an adequate replacement yet. IE "X item you can buy with easily farmable tomes that arent really used for anything else" situation(The myth materials arent relevant because too many people are still dumping myth into animus/novus). They want to keep the philo mats(coke, peacock ore etc) marketable as long as possible, that's simply it. End all, be all.

I LOVE my black drachen! <3 Yeah it cost me a lot but I'm a gatherer and a crafter so I can afford these things. I'm not even one of those über crafters with all classes at 50, just a humble carpenter and botanist...and I didn't even make my fortune from starred crafting items (lvl 35-50). I made half the money back within 24 hours of buying it and I have ZERO regrets.

I've seen so many people avoid crafting as if it were leprosy yet they moan that they don't have the gil to get the things they want. Well if all you want to do is your dailies and raids as your DoW or DoM while turning a blind eye to DoL and DoH then get ready to have some content out of reach.

Vanity seems to be something for the super rich and endgame crafters and not for the majority of players. The requirements for most cool looking vanity items is so high that I still run around in Snow's level 1 robe..just not interested in grinding hours/days for one item.

This patch is a nothing more but a huge letdown and a new record for senseless grinding and time sink elements. Dying AF is insane speaking of the requirements, Choccobo levelling is bound to an FC, FC house and a bachelor master in Gardening and the Hunt is something that brought out the worst in people thanks to its design. And desynthesis in combination with the new tools for DOH and DOL is an insane grind feast that either takes months or you needs millions of GIL to proceed.

All the good things (Hildibrand was cool, story was cool, new dungeons are cool too and the amount of QOL additions was also cool) go under in the "grind till your head explodes" elements that came with Patch 2.3.

SE wants you to work for everything. I don't really see a problem with this. If you want it badly enough, work (grind) for it. If you don't, then don't. You don't HAVE to have this.

It's like the people who complained about the atma/animus/Novus grind. It's a reward for the people who really, really want to have something 'different' but not 'necessary'.

These mats are not that hard to get. Coke and the like are relatively cheap on the AH, and getting myth is pretty damn easy now. I went from 0 to 2k in a day just helping friends with stuff, not even really putting an effort to grind it.

It's like they come out with something and people go: waddya mean I can't have it all right now?! You mean I have to complain about how hard it is to get?! I wanted to complain about how EASY it was to get and how everyone did it at the same time and now there's no individuality I'm armor!! Damn it square, get it right!

How are you going about this, then? I got to 70 arm de synth for less than 150k... Most glamour costs between 50-300k, which can be earned in a day if you have either crafting or gathering up to 50. And I already have two of the new crafting main hands and I only really grinded for about a day or so.

Maybe you need to find better ways to make money? Sure it's server specific, but it's really not hard to have 1 mil Gil or so around. Just doing dungeons nets me near 100k a day, be it from kill Gil, drops, or what have you.

This isn't lore though. This is just their excuse to gate something new that's entirely cosmetic behind a massive grind wall.

The grind wall gives the new dyed items value. You don't seem to notice that alot of people like your post because they too want to dye these pieces for the glamour system because some of these pieces are very detailed.

The glamour system is popular because it allows you to be unique. By putting barriers in to the system, you now have the ability to become even more unique than unique. Its not very unique when every other John Doe looks exactly like you because we can all dye them for little to no cost. People don't pay 2-10 million gil for the "onion hat" just for the looks but because its also harder to obtain than the average items flying around on the market.

Some of these pieces look stunning in their preset colors and would look more stunning when correctly colored to mix-match with other glamoured pieces. Its well worth the effort especially when you know, everyone else who "liked" your post and every other similar post, won't be as stunning as those who put the effort in to dying them because they felt it was too much work.

If you don't like being unique or even more unique than unique, WoW, currently offers players the opportunity to look like everyone else and degrades the value of everything to nothing.

For some effort involved, I prefer the uniqueness caused by the barrier over the John Doeness caused by being allowed to have everything for little to no effort.

Keep in mind, being Unique, is a big thing in MMOs~
