What ideas would you like to see implemented with housing? I personally would like a handsome Elezen butler…
Please refer him to this thread that I wrote here about suggestions:

With that said I'd like a permanent guest bedroom added (Rukkirii you are welcome anytime) and a guest Murgleis for duels with me, the house master. Also ice cream.

I think this is important: one must first decide on whether housing should be instanced or persistant before anything else.

There is an entire avenue of gameplay mechanics which you can take advantage of with persistant housing (player made villages and sieges etc), stuff that cannot be implemented meaningfully if there is only instanced housing.

But with instanced housing, you get alot of benefits too, like no urban sprawl, and it's also much easier to implement.

Also, I think it should be a PRIORITY to have this discussion with the dev tema NOW before the zone-revamp is finished because if persistant housing is chosen, then it ties in with zone-structure and layout.

I really, really hope the whole dev team have their note pads out and are taking this down, I'm sure it's an entirely new avenue of potential they haven't even considered, despite their vast experience in the area.

Whilst we do have a lot of wasted space right now, I hope in the future we won't have so much that player housing seems like a good idea out in the world. That said it could be an interesting feature.

Well, as mentioned, they are not seriously thinking about housing just yet, but are in fact already working on a zone revamp. But it pays to keep in mind both zone reworking and persistant housing if it is to be used. So obviously one cannot be considered without the other.

My main concern is that they are only considering the zone-revamp in light of complaints about copy-paste and this "conductor" approach, when really player-housing should also be factored into the equation if indeed they choose to go that route.

I would like to see a Linkshell be able to have a large house/castle type place to build and furnish themselves, and then also be able to invite non-linkshell players inside.

Here is my problem: this really doesn't add much unless it is non-instanced.

I think there should be Company housing personal housing wouldn't be necessary with a company house and mog houses in xi were never as popular as after the day they let us go into our friends rooms. I also think that we should have to craft furniture like in xi but furthermore we should have to craft rooms if we want them for additions to the room or buy a service like an in house chocobo rental service or even and air dock o.o or an Aetherial gate/crystal room. It would be fun if these things were things we had to work toward.

Personally I think Persistent housing sounds impractical. Wouldn't there be space constraints? what if I want to grow my house but there's another house next door? Pillage? Seems like it's asking to shift around too many mechanics.

Some games with persistant housing use a tax or rent system (unless they have siege systems), similar to the way market stands are used in the wards. If you don't renew your rent, your house disappears.

Also, the copy-paste method that SE are so fond of means they can create lots of space as needed (lol).

I loved having a moghouse in XI. Certainly would be nice to have something to show off to my friends eventually in XIV.

Now I don't know much about the developing aspect, but it would be neat (like some have mentioned) to buy land and keep building on it (like... White Knight Chronicles, though that's more detailed). If they do something like this... it definitely needs to take time to build.

Either way, any type of housing would be neat, as long as it supports allowing friends to be invited and decorating it ourselves. Even if it's just a room.
