Open letter to Yoshida: Your preview on The Hunt is misleading

People are saying that if they change the system that honest players are going to be punished in the crossfire. Personally, I'm 100% fine with that. I collected all of the seals I have now honestly but I wouldn't mind if they did a rollback... or something.

Honest players are already being punished by being turned off of this system.
I was on my way to fish in outer lanoscea the other day, and as I'm walking by I see a level 50 hunt mob.
My instinct is"oh boy!" but behind me I see a group of people already lined up to kill it.
Afraid that they'd probably rage/report me if I dared to touch it, I switched to my BLM waiting for my skills to cool down.
Unfortunately, by the time they did, the B rank mob was dead. I got nothing for being "honest" so I've given up until I SE changes the system.

Also the daily mob hunts are a joke. 1 seal per "set of marks" or 2 for a fate boss? Yea they sure cater to "honest players" in this thing.

That's not honesty . . . were you honestly going to pull the mob with your fishermen? That would be dishonest, or at least kind of crappy to the other players because you wouldn't actually contribute anything you would just get credit for touching it, and you didn't even find it first.

Also they can't report you for pulling an open world mob.

I mean, I agree that people shouldn't cheat, obviously, but I came about all my seals by being ready to hunt and connecting myself to the right people - not by cheating. If someone tagged it on a fishermen I would think that they are selfish.

All I am saying is that at least on Adamantoise, you can be an honest player just looking around and listening to LSs/Party/FC and still get a decent amount of seals.

In case you didn't know, some of these mobs are aggro and will attack fishermen/miners/botanists like any other aggro mob.
The path I was walking by I didn't even notice it. I could have easily just walked by it and drew aggo by accident if I hadn't seen the giant crowd of people around it.



By the way if it's a B rank mob it's technically a soloable mob. So let's say I wasn't on my fisher, I'm not part of any hunt link shells. I have no obligation to tell the whole server or the whole map that there's a hunt mob here that's meant to be SOLO'ed. If my FC members/friends are nearby I'll call them and we will kill it ourselves. That's how the hunts were intended to be done. No one is obliged to tell anyone about hunt mobs, because that's not how this system was made.

Which reminds me, I know a lot of players have been concerned this will be like back in the day, where one player or party would claim an enemy, and lock everyone else out from getting a reward. You'll be happy to know that the Hunt was not designed with any such claiming system in mind. In fact, some of the elite marks are so powerful, it would be in your best interest to shout for help before trying to lay a hand on them. I've also heard the more elusive elite marks drop rare items as well. These rare items are distributed on a player-by-player basis, so don't hesitate to reach for a helping hand.

Unfortunately, they are in fact not tough at all, so if you do not need help to kill one, you are no obliged to call the whole server to kill it with you. It's like going to some limited time cake sale, buying the last cake and making sure everyone in line behind you gets a piece because they weren't lined up in time to get a cake of their own.

I don't think any of the hunt mobs were MEANT to be SOLO'ed. You can certainly solo a B rank, but why wouldn't you want your friends to receive a reward for it as well? No one is obligated to tell any one else, but people do in hopes of reciprocity. But you are totally right you can absolutely solo a B rank and you absolutely are under no obligation to tell anybody about it. I don't see your count-point.

A. Don't eat an entire cake by yourself, its sad and unhealthy.
B. Good luck having no one ever help you find a mark. Have fun with your 70 seals a week.
C. If you can solo an A rank I would be THOROUGHLY impressed. B ranks are really the only soloable Marks. I think you are basing your judgement on the system on one occasion that you saw a hunt take place on one of the weakest marks.

I'm saying that too. You can hunt being an honest player. I did. I do. However that doesn't mean it's not made more difficult than it should be by the cheaters monopolizing the system or the fact that every single mob is zerged by 200 people(who clearly don't all get the reward since you sneeze at the mobs and they die).
