In fortunate ways, the current version of this game is grabbing more and more population every day even more so with the new content that was just put in place and once the expansion comes out as well the next patch that introduces the 'Rogue/Ninja' class group will inspire even more players to join up. The only thing I can recommend for you to do is as the above mentioned when it comes to wanting to join a certain server, it is an unfortunate proposition but it is about all you can do at this point.

Being a level 50 Dragoon myself, it is a very fun class to get into. I often play on the PS4 but also possess a copy of FFXIV for PC and use a SONY PlayStation 4 Controller for both platforms and it's possibly the greatest and most comfortable feeling of playing the game, I honestly don't think I would be able to perform my job correctly or as swiftly without it.

Jobs are plentiful for the most part and will continue to expand amongst the patch 2.4 as well as the when the new expansion has been developed and put out. The only down fall to FFXIV is more 'impatient' end-game players who want to run things at THEIR pace causing others enjoyment to be pushed down, hopefully a penalty is set in place eventually for those that force this on others if not all agree with a speed run. Some people will also make you skip cutscenes at end game because again 'impatient'. None the less, most can be reviewed at your INN Room but the fact that forcing this unto someone who does something for the first just destroys the enjoyment and creates a negative relationship between the player that forced this option to the player who wanted to view the cutscene which I don't need to go into details further, I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

None the less, I love FFXIV: A Realm Reborn and it is a VERY fun game. A lot to do and not a lot you have to go through to join dungeons as well as other specified fights. One good thing about this game is the fact that there is an EXP Bonus system for multiple 'Same Type Jobs', meaning if you level Dragoon and then choose to level a Monk that is lower level then your Dragoon, you will receive a certain percentage boost for leveling two of the same type jobs.

If I were you, I would give it another shot. We as a community would LOVE to have you amongst us!

I would be happy to share those details with you but PLEASE follow these instructions VERY clearly! Also, my system is running based on Windows 8.1 so I am going soloely based off it but it should all be the same for the most part. (Also I may have to break it down into two different posts, it's not a long process but this forum limits text, so I will simply add the instruction in my next post! So give me a little time and it will be up soon!

1) With the USB Cord attached to your SONY PlayStation 4 controller, plug into your local USB Port located on your Personal Computer (PC). You should be given a confirmation sound of it being plugged in as any other USB Enabled product.

2) Proceed into Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn as you normally would. Upon logging into your character, proceed into your Character Customization option and click, 'Game Pad Mode'. The Game will have detected that you are on a 'Wireless Controller', even though it's plugged in, this is normal BUT DO NOT DISCONNECT THE CONTROLLER as you have to have a 'Blue Tooth Enabled' device in order to actually use it wirelessly!

3) Now go into 'Game pad' option where it should show you a basic control style funtion, click that option and click the option that has 'Playstation Looking Button + Touch Pad'. Do not bother calibrating the controller as it is quite pointless here. Once you have selected that option, you will notice that the controls are a little off.... Circle is Tringle - Triangle is X.. Now we have to move on to the most important part of this which is editing the FFXIV Configuration file so, exit FFXIV once you have completed the above and move on the next steps.

4) Open up Notepad on your computer and go to File -> Open. Go into your 'My Documents' and go into 'Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn' folder. Open up FFXIV.cfg (Please ensure you have 'All Types' enabled when opening it, otherwise the file will not appear on your list)

5) Now that FFXIV.cfg is open were going to hit 'CTRL+F' which should bring up the find option, in the string type 'Alias' and hit enter. Everything that has 'Alias {##} etc) you will replace it with the following string:
Alias {90,91,88,89,41,40,32,33,73,72,48,49,3,2,1,0,4,6,10,5,7,11,9,8}
There should only be but one string with something similar to that in the file but make sure it appears just like that. Easier just to copy and paste rather then type it out.

NOTE: Please ENSURE you make a Copy of the .CFG file BEFORE you do this to ensure you have one handy just in case!
You should be set after that. I have yet to figure out how to get the touch pad working.... mine doesn't so select things like the 'Level Sync' I use the 'Share' button in placement of that.

Thanks for the reply! I'll need to invest in a new cable for my controller as the one I have is only 30cm long!!

Still had no luck getting actually in the game on Odin shard which is really frustrating

Recently resubbed myself and been having a blast. Restarted on a new character to see things with fresh eyes and it's definitely improved a lot since I last played during the first month.
