I'm SCH main in pve and pvp and yes, I definitely feel being a force in frontline.
1v1 I can kill anything, even 1v2.
The burst damage a scholar (or a summoner) can unleash is amazing. (Ruin2+Energy Drain x6)
Don't forget Aero + Bio. They do some damage and are instant casts, something very valuable in PVP.
It's really hard to make a judgment call about 'most OP class' because anyone can focus and stomp down someone pretty fast, as long as they are coordinated. Healers can't keep up with so many people bashing on a single person at once. One amazing example of coordination I saw from a really coordinated team: we were camping the flag, loosely spread out. Someone ran in and did an AoE stun, followed immediately by caster LB. We didn't stand a chance. The same goes for AoE bind, I believe, as it will be equally effective.
Bane is really fun as SMN, and has a lot of damage potential, but only if people are actually standing close to each other. If you see a SMN, pay special attention to spread out... even if you are camping the flag. If you learn the Bane radius (it's pretty similar to the animation), you can annoy the SMN attacking you and make their dots less effective because they can't spread them. Really, the same goes for any AoE class. Just don't be standing too close to your teammates.
I agree that BRD are annoying to deal with because they are ranged, can continue to shoot even while moving, and will interrupt my casts with their hits. I can pop equanimity (and I do) to get my initial dots off, but they are at a distinct advantage if there is something around that they can use to pillar. If they can shift back and forth around a pillar the entire time to stop my casts, I am at a huuuuuge disadvantage. But, frontlines is about group play and 1v1 is never going to be balanced.
You know what's really hilariously funny though? If you're facing a team that's gathered up, but isn't focusing hard on any one person in particular. On WHM, you can throw up a medica 2 for the AoE regen to offset damage, then cleric stance and holy spam in the middle of the group. You'd be surprised how many people DON'T run away from the AoE radius (which is already pretty large). :O
As time goes on, the general knowledge about what to do and what not to do in battleground-style PvP will increase, and people will be less likely to fall for the 'tricks'... such as baiting (one person overextends and the group chases them, and then they get ambushed). Happy hunting with PvP and I like that so many people are enjoying it.

pretty much the only way i go down as a sch is if they use melee lb. it actually usally ends up taking 2 groups to take down any group im in. especially because groups tend to try to gang up on me making it easy for me and my fairy to keep me alive while the dps wipes the other group. I really think the key to being a good scholar in frontlines though is knowing how and when to use your pvp skills.
I don't think Bards are overpowered but they're so annoying with their run & gun strategy.
Same with WHM's too be honest ...esp the text. A WHM who properly times their PvP skills when a burn on them is about to happen can at least survive long enough for help to arrive/their team to pick off some of the pressure...but even without assistance, proper PvP actions+ self heals/cc = it takes 1.5 parties, a smart team, or a LB to mess with a WHM's day ....if they have all their cooldowns.pretty much the only way i go down as a sch is if they use melee lb. it actually usally ends up taking 2 groups to take down any group im in. especially because groups tend to try to gang up on me making it easy for me and my fairy to keep me alive while the dps wipes the other group. Healers in general are pretty OP in Frontlines. Seeing healers consistently manage 90k+ heals per match (some, probably unpressured, manage 120k+) makes me feel that we're in for some trouble if they don't get reigned in in the future. The last thing you ever want to face is a healer-heavy group (4+ healers in one party).
BRDs can shoot through certain sectionals, like the ones in Wolves' Den. So obviously they're OP.
