How would thief differ from rogue?
How would thief differ from rogue?
He could foresee traps before anyone like aoe would show to him first briefly before any else and haste buffs etc.. Not sure if a rogue has a range weapon like a dagger or pre-emptive attacks and dodge.

While I loved Red and Blue from XI.... Personally (and I think you can agree) they will likely water it down so much that it will just be a disappointment.
It isn't. People are mad they named it rogue instead of thief for lore purposes.
Same way everyone was completely OUTRAGED when they called it Paladin and not Knight... right? right? /sarcasm off
Except people aren't mad they named it rogue instead of thief. People want Thief as a Job, not a base class that gets forgotten. People are more mad because Yoshida is more or less saying "there will never be a Thief" for lore reasons that don't actually match the lore.

I understand people want Thief job but for getting angry at "lore reasons" but it just means people have poor reading comprehension. Rogue should be named Thief but due to lore reasons, it is currently named Rogue. So people shouldn't be angry at that, SE fully intended for Rogue to be Thief which probably means they have very little, to no plans to bringing in Thief job.Except people aren't mad they named it rogue instead of thief. Basically, Rogue *should* be named Thief but lore happened and it's named Rogue. Thus, Thief should be a base class and Ninja the job, throwback to FFI. People angry at the base class relegation of Thief but if SE's view is to have it like FFI in that particular class/job relationship then that's how it's going to be.
It has nothing to do with lore reasons, don't try to insult us with that.I understand people want Thief job but for getting angry at "lore reasons" but it just means people have poor reading comprehension. It's called disagreement. We don't agree with the reasons they provided.
I'm not going to discuss it further here as it's off-topic really, yet you seem to want to argue against anyone that says they want Thief, even in a thread specifically asking people what new Jobs they want.

You could absolutely do a very good RDM that would turn out much better than XI's RDM.
Outside of some interesting content you could solo, RDM in XI was just a buff bot in parties. Few people actually enjoy such a tedious and low skill position and it has absolutely no place whatsoever in FFXIV.
RDM would make an excellent support DPS job that fills the same role as a BRD does. It could be a melee/magic hybrid that mixes melee attacks and spell casts for optimal DPS. One of its core abilities would be Refresh, that would function such that it would be relatively interchangeable with a BRDs using mana song. IE: it couldn't be spammed, and using it would diminish the RDMs DPS in some way. This would be an excellent addition to the game because currently there isn't any other Job that fills the BRD role.
