I'm not sure how not being able to mail or transfer stuff to your alt impairs the function of gil/item farmers for RMT. don't they all run multiple accounts at once, and can bounce items and gil through there alt accounts?

EXACTLY! This is simply most idiotic excuse for NOT implementing the fairly common feature in MMOs. It has nothing to do with nor it impacts in any way RMTs. (Simple) transfer of the items between alts is very reasonable request and I hate how SE is avoiding this. At least please let us to add offline characters on the friend list. SHAME on you SE! And to those arguing that there is no need to have / transfer to alts - who you are to tell others how to play? If I pay for up to 8 characters on same server and I decide to do so I shouldn't be restricted from doing so comfortably without using silly workarounds.

So you can't use alts as a dumping ground for old gear you have but can't sell for this reason, and thus the item transfer system doesn't compensate for gearing out alts.

What in the world would old gear have to do with the gear you make for an alt? Gearing out your alts has nothing to do with old gear. It's about making new gear specifically for the alt you want to use it with. That's why people craft, it's to make gear (and a few other items). And the reason you make gear is so that you can use it. Making gear just to throw it away because the character you made it with doesn't need it, while at the same time you have another character who does need it but you can't give it to him is ridiculous.

I'm lucky that I'm in a small enough FC that I can safely use the FC chest to transfer items between my alts, but most players don't have that advantage. (And I pay for it by not having any chance of getting FC housing, at least not for another year or more, since it will take us at least that long to reach rank 6.) Most players can't make something for their alt to use because they can't pass the item to the alt they made it for. Given that we're paying SE extra money for the right to have alts, the rule against making stuff for them has to change.

To see the stories of each of the city-states.
To get multiple opportunities to run one-time-only content.
To roleplay as (or just enjoy the aesthetics of) multiple races/genders.
To get additional runs of whichever endgame content currently has lockouts (or restrictive caps on what you can earn).
...

Those are the reasons I'm aware of (and the first three of them my own reasons). There may be others.

SE needs to fix this ASAP, allow us to easily transfer items between characters on the same account. Do not tie it to retainers though, personally I want to gear my alts out from level 1 on up.

You can create your own FC (you ask kind people to sign for you and then you either go back to solo mode or enjoy the new friends)

Before kicking them or them to leave, you give them application or invitation rights - you switch Alts, get into the FC for you and your Alt.

Lastly, you lock the 3rd company chest (or all) and voila. You can transfer all items more conveniently; you even have more storage space.

While that is a great suggestion, it doesn't work for everyone.

There needs to be a easier hassle-free way to transfer gear/items between characters on the same world on the same account, just like there is in almost every other MMORPG. Everquest 2 gave everyone shared bank slots, it worked great. People have mentioned Guild Wars 2 as well. There needs to be a simple easy way to transfers items from character to character that a level 1 character will have access to. Giving us shared retainer slots for example wouldn't work because each character needs to be around level 20 to unlock retainers.

The simplest solution is to allow mailing items to offline characters or characters on your account.

So there is no way to give my gil and some potions to my main without having a FC? I am really new to mmo's in general but learning a lot from these forums. Thank you all! I'm still enjoying making characters and naming them....lol! But I've decided to use my first character instead of the second which has more gil and stuff. They are both on the same world and server. I tried to mail it to no avail before I came here and read all your posts. So is that it then? Is there no way I'll be able to do it? Thanks in advance for your help.
