My opinion is that I agree with a lot of what the OP was saying. Except for his taste in Dynasty Warriors, and I understand why he made his comparison in terms of AI.
I remember complaining about the typical mob AI being brick dumb. People thought the only other option was doomvoid guivres everywhere. I was hoping for a balance.
Novus...well I haven't finished atma so I'm a little biased.
And all this time, I thought 1.3 was a failure, hence ARR. Thanks for enlightening me, OP!
I agree with a lot of OPs points, but it's useless complaining about these things.
Yoshi cares first and foremost about making SE money; and the best way to do that is to make content easy/accessible to every and anyone ( casual, new to mmos, bad at MMO players, etc..).
So basically, it isn't likely any of the core mechanics of this game like the 123123 battle system will ever change.
OP says ARR is worse than 1.23, game sales say ARR is more popular than 1.23.
I wonder who is right, the few who tried 1.X or the millions who tried 2.X?
I know nostalgia can blind people, but 1.X was a terrible game.
I haven't watched it, but for MMOs that analogy doesn't work, people watch a movie once, but for MMOs it's not just sales, it's also subscriptions.
The active population of ARR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the active population of 1.X
Don't forget people were too stubborn to return to 1.23. I've read countless stories of people who flat out refused to come back because they didn't believe the game was fixed at all
My take: There's more then just a 123123 rotation here. If you're only using 3 skills you aren't playing the game at all (or are too low level to even experience the meat and potatoes of the game. The way the game was designed it's mostly endgame oriented). Other then that I miss 1.23 too much, Mostly the community we had back then
That analogy is perfect.
People will keep watching/paying for the hyped up flavor of the month media because everyone else does whether or not its actually anywhere close to a work of art.
