Because many small transactions create a different social environment/feel. If everytime I want to do something...I have to think, ok I guess I'll spend another quarter...that impacts my enjoyment of the game. It's like Netflix Watch Now vs Comcast On Demand. With Comcast On Demand you have to evaluate the individual enjoyment of eatch movie/show against the requested price. With Netflix Watch Now you can just enjoy the service and not think about it. That is how I want this game to be.

First of all, my actual option one is pay to play if you read the post. Second, there are tons of free to play games that are still going strong and have constant updates. Some have been out for years. Free to play does not equal a dead and dull game. The moment people start believing in the ridiculous stereotype and not try to prove it wrong, is the moment a possible VALID form of payment is simply closed to everyone. The hate I'm seeing from people against free to play is showing me somethings. 1) They aren't fully reading my original post. 2) They are believing in a stereotype, which is very contradicting, since this game has been stereotyped as a huge flop and yet they are still playing and hoping for the best.

Free to play =/= bad game.

Bad Free to play = bad game.

Pay to play =/= good game. IT just should = a good game.

Did I spell it out to you?

    I thought it was obvious.

F2P games are designed around hooking you, and then siphoning the cash from your wallet by holding back content. I'm sorry I'd rather everyone pay and be on the same level footing instead of some guy with alot of cash able to buy his way out of any issues he has.

    A) The topic has been brought up already.

    B) Most people here don't give a crap about F2P. That's a business strategy that needs to be taken out and shot like Old Yeller.

"We're going to you play our game, but if you wanna go here, that'll be 15 bucks!" Oh, we can also level your character for another 5! Whaddya say!?"

I also like continuous streams of content, bug fixes, and support, etc.

See, now this is a justifiable statement against free to play that I can agree with to some extent. It would change how people feel about some aspects of the game, however, I'm not thinking that things in the cash shop would completely alter game play. Nothing like double exp or overpowered weapons. Maybe vanity, storage, and possible additions to crafting enhancement or combat items not in game now. It's not things required to enjoy the game. It's not things required to become what you may believe is 'powerful.' Just things to make it more possibly more enjoyable to some players.

Wait, so pay to play games aren't trying to hook you either? They don't hold back content at all while the months pass and you continue to pay, waiting for the next update or expansion?

Again, ideas posted in my free to play ideas were not completely unbalanced the way you are making it sound like it would be. Don't label a possible free to play model on this game when it could be completely different.

Judging from SE's established track record with this game, F2P would no doubt suck in the most illimitable sense of the word.

When a popular MMO goes from subscription-based to an F2P model, it is almost always a last-ditch effort to ebb a consistent loss of subscribers (due to being unable to adequately compete). Some games that do this go on to do pretty well with the model, but in this case I think it would just delay an inevitable end... given the production costs and the extreme lack of real content, it seems like the game wouldn't be able to attract/keep enough people to draw a decent profit. How many people right now would be willing to pay 5-10 bucks for an SP/EXP bonus, given the freaking awful state of end-game content.... probably not that many people

The ironic thing is that the way this game is systematically set up would constitute an excellent F2P opportunity, but since extra classes are not worth the time fully leveling and content is sorely lacking and imbalanced as is, it would just be a bad idea atm.

It sounds like you are talking about a different kind of pay to play that I didn't mention in my original post at all. My idea was not limiting content, but you know, that's not much different than releasing an expansion we'd all have to buy anyway that would probably run you more than $15.

First of all it's not a popular MMO we are talking about. They are already free and this was an idea I brought up thinking maybe they should add a cash shop with mostly vanity and inventory expansions to buy. Nothing like doublet exp or overpowered items. Nothing like holding back content if you don't pay (unless it's a legitimate expansion of course) and so on. I can't see having something like that really altering this game in any negative way until they have it up to par where they could possibly have a monthly subscription.
