SE really went crazy with the requirements for making these brooms and chocobo feed.

Stupidly crazy. It seems like a "horse before the cart" sort of thing. Without personal housing and gardens, it simply creates an unnecessary strain on FCs already struggling to mange their "fun" gardens.

If you use one broom/day, 1 glazenut + 1 broombush lasts almost 3 weeks. It takes 2 weeks to grow 8 of each. That's with just one bed. I don't see the problem here.

At current market prices on Exodus it would be cheaper to trash a filthy stable and put up a new one than to clean the old.

You're forgetting the feed, which is only from gardening (as far as we know), otherwise those stables are just vanity. Also, you're assuming people buy the seeds from others (who are essentially sacrificing their own use for the stables) to grow them. It takes a lot longer than 2 weeks to yield 8 of each and sustain feed for the FC to use with one bed. This is also under the assumption that people are fertilizing it regularly.

edit: actually according to lodestone db http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/96abfb901bb/ it says its 5 gil per bag...which is weird as I coulda sworn when I went to buy some it said 3000something gil. I'm so confused now. I'll have to check tonight when I'm back in the game.
