Except if the 4 are in a party together.I think this is a necessity. I've heard most monsters you need to deal about 30% of the monster's hp to get credit if you didn't tag it (I've also heard enmity etc. but think hp for simplification). With those kind of numbers, if four or more people camp a spawn, kill the mark with about equivalent damage dealt, then only one of the four will get credit.
If someone in a party claim an enemy (red enemy name), then the claim count also for everyone in the same party
Normal Marks: Free for all.
Elite Marks: Spawned by performing the right actions according to info. from Hunt Scholars. Monster locked like Leves - by player/party. No timer involved - just figuring out the right spawn conditions. Conditions and placement are randomized - so people don't overlap each other.
Agrippa on Ragnarok lasted quite a while due to his repel-attacks skill, people actually had time to gather and work together.
Maybe that's the solution, make all enemies have a repel-attack skill! <_< (I'm joking... probably)
Actuallt that a Good idea. Have the marks use a Repel attack that OHKO everyone within a radius of maybe 12 feet if too many players are partaking in the fight or if someone lands their first hit beyond a certain threshold (maybe %80-75 HP) And then vanishes with a message that says "cheaters don;t prosper" with the offending player reported, blacklisted and demonized as a villain under the Ascean's/Primals thrall (Everything from the message to here is a joke BTW)
While we're at it Marks definitely need some more HP. And for people that hate Linkshells so much a OHKO attacks that goes out whenever someone says the coordinates on a LS or most chat channels (Everything but/tell basically)
Finally I think putting sands/oil/alexandrite there may not be the wisest choice for hunts

More hp would help a little, but I think it would just cause problems for the marks that don't get swarmed. From what I remember, Yoshida said that the weekly elite mark would always be rank B and the same for everyone. That's just a terrible idea. I doubt it's even logistically possible for everyone to get credit that way. Since they've decided that the weekly marks are going to be the easily soloable rank Bs, they need to just be randomized. There'd still be a lot of competition for them, but it might be manageable.
I second this notion. Only I think the render priority should be more like Party > Engaged Enemy(s) > Player's Pet > Party Pets > Enemy(s) > NPC > Other Players > Other Players Pets > Chocobos > Minions. Although it would also be nice if we can alter our own rendering priority. I'm not actually suggesting that because really I want a FIX before I want a CUSTOMISABLE FIX.How about also give them render priority so they don't disappear on everyone.
Actually that shouldn't even be a thing. Render priority should always always always be enemies>party members> everything else. It does not make sense that I can see five garuda-egis but not the thing i'm trying to fight or my tank.
How about introducing Phasing? When you get the Hunt log (and everybody in your group from the same GC does), make the enemies spawn for the player and the group he is in and that's it.
I have very little experience with the Hunts so far. I made two daily appearing ones which were ok besides in both was a FATE where I had to wait for 30 minutes to spawn. But the weekly one seems to be a strange Developer Joke. I heard it can span everywhere and mine was in Coerthas. How on Earth am I even supposed to find it in such a huge map?
I rode around for like an hour without ever seeing it and then had enough of wasting my time (again). I looked forward to the Hunt a lot but it seems I will only do the daily one here and there if I find the time. The weekly one in the way they designed it, is not really a joy to play. What I get from the other people posting on this Forum is that finding it does not mean you get something because they die quickly.
And it doesn't seem to be cooperative friendly. Even if I get a group of 8 players from my FC together who are in the same GC, what should we do? If everybody goes to a different spot and shouts when he finds it, the monster will be long time dead before the others arrive. Don't get what they wanted it to be. Seems it is either walking around not finding anything or a ruthless and mercyless kill from the few lucky enough to spot it. If you are a jerk and go all out, you get a reward. If you act cooperatively and wait for others, you get nothing? Great system yet again developped by SE.
Easiest possible solution SE could possibly implement: Place a weekly cap on AS you can earn, just like all our other special currencies.
Will this piss off a huge amount of the player base? Probably.
But suddenly the people who can't get any Marks killed will be able to, because after you cap your seals, the only reasons left to kill them are
to get credit towards achievements, and the atma-rare Hunt Logs
And then deliberately make the Cap 500. Just enough for the Succubus minion but not enough to get the oil/sands in a week (which I assume is the core of the Zerg problem).
That way the only players who will be really pissed are those trying to take the easy sociopathic way out of doing Coil and realize it'll be better to just find a static and do Coil already
Also tomes. But suddenly the people who can't get any Marks killed will be able to, because after you cap your seals, the only reasons left to kill them are
to get credit towards achievements, and the atma-rare Hunt Logs
I'm not sure how easily it could be coded, but I think it would be helpful if they drastically reduced the respawn time of the marks (particularly the weekly hunt), but added a cooldown for credit such that if you got full credit on Naul (for example) you can't get credit for him again for say, 4 hours. Maybe make it so that you can't even attack him if you're in your refractory period. This should allow others to get credit more easily and without the dilemma of claiming or waiting for others. The only problem is it might make it too easy for several groups to go about hunting elite marks with almost no down time at all.
