No one knows what Ifrit is as it changes it's "species" every game, but the one in XIV is eerily close to a dragon much like Pieste and Drakes are very dragon like. So we'll get our bosses soon and no, we don't need to fight a 'god' type of enemy in vanilla.

Unless that's the new trend of MMOs these days, throw everything in Vanilla.

i recall going through ffxi's many zones in a day and killing:
ifrit, leviathan, garuda, titan, the lightning guy and probably someone else.
Point is, 1 summon isnt exactly impressive...

Mind you, you started playing over A year after its launch, and the summons role was different, and soloable. not exactly the stuff of Lord Nagafen.

I just don't see the point of begging for high level content, when the team is in the middle of revamping the combat system you would use to attack said high level content. Yes, they had a bad launch, now they are fixing it, but they need to fix it in order. In case you haven't noticed, people are able to drop high level goblins. This is not the ideal type of system you can put a challenging mob roaming around in. Once the battle system is in place, then we can have high level challenging content. And mind you, there are still complaints about the Mosshorn blockading areas around leves.

I mention that FFXI took a while before it launched its summons, a year. 7 months before even the HNMs, mind you, this was a good launch, where they could focus on content primarily.

Ifrit is not a dragon! It's a mystical... plump of red meat... with lava, horns and stuff... and scales, just like a dragon...
