I was pretty bummed when I saw the patch notes for this, thought I'd inject a bit of freshness into my wardrobe before tackling the new battles, but no. Like someone else mentioned, dying gear takes insane grind or masses of gil, new dungeons downed 1st try. Arse first logic.

Is it safe to go out on a limb here and say the MBs are player-run? Maybe the foreign servers sell all their items at NPC value? I don't know. Maybe SE INTENDED for the items to be sold at NPC value and bases their prices off of that (though more likely it's based off the Japanese economy, however it's fairing right now). Maybe SE intended for the players to obtain all the mats themselves primarily rather than buy them, as crazy as that sounds.

It reflects poorly on us and makes these english forums look greedy, in my opinion. I'm not saying everything should be sold at NPC sell value necessarily, but they need to take into account EVERY region and EVERY server that ARR was released in and come to a compromise, not only based on what we see on our market boards. Because our view on economy COULD BE totally skewed to someone else. In a capitalist nation, helping others by posting lower prices is simply absurd.

In a player-run economy, though, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

So you're saying prices are greatly inflated on the first day? Who would've thought.

Seriously though most of those items are very easy to get. It's not a big deal.

Pretty much how I see it. Give it a week or 2 and prices will likely begin dropping.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

The high cost of mats and items are a common complaint year-round, not just day 1 of a new patch. I'm just saying, if people put the items up for sale at the suggested retail price instead of an arbitrarily inflated price in the millions, not only would people be able to afford stuff like housing earlier, but it would make us rely less on RMT to make a quick buck.

Are players the reason we're overrun with RMT, just because we want to get rich quick? Is it the direct influence of the prices we ourselves set for carries and HQ items that leads people to take RMT as a "reasonable solution"? Pfft, it's not for me to say. I will make a statement that it's not SE's fault that RMT has a business here.

These recipes are an insult to a crafters intelligence. It's not worth the cost just to dye some old level 55 gear. Maybe if it was for a genuine 'upgrade' it would be considered beneficial, but as it stands you might as well eat your money for all the good it will do in the long run.

The issue is that many of the items needed to craft 3-star recipes are REALLY hard to come by in the first place. Cashmere, for example, costs 500 tomes for a SINGLE piece. It's literally more expensive to upgrade your ilvl 55 body piece than it is to simply buy the i90 relic robe!

The reason these things are so darned expensive is because of the sheer amount of time you need to invest in getting them. It's not 'a quick buck' it's a very slow buck, so they want to make it count.

Something as simple as dying armor should be simply dying it...complaining about it being "easy" is dumb as the fact it's not a raid or anything..it's just dying armor.

FFXIV Dev Team need to be backhanded into last year for the poor implementation that is 2.3. What a joke. "Hey here's a cool feature that everyone wanted. Oh yeah! only the richest of the rich can afford it; TROLLOLOLOL"

The problem really is that SE totally has no concept of priority. They made dying AFs this huge, costly thing as content for crafters even though it is completely unrelated to actual progression in the game. Yet again, they're showing that they don't like crafting. Sure, they added some higher ilvl stuff for crafters here and there, but crafters should instead have huge, costly things that advance story progression, and the AF stuff should be easy and inexpensive. It's the same concept as the Spring Dress/Sailor Uniform; crafting on the high end is pretty much useless.
