If you're a jerk and they kick you out, you deserved to lose that 300k.Apparently I may have jumped the gun a little then, as I was going by the patch notes and their ambiguous use of the word 'discharge'. If this is true I have no beef with SE :P.
Edit: Actually I just thought about it, and it still isn't right at all that an FC leader can remove your room and force you out of 300k all on a whim. I still think it's a bad system and should be linked to inn rooms, not FC housing, and that's still SE's fault.
If they're a jerk and they kick you out, that's harassment and they need to be reported to GMs.
Time will tell if that works properly.
Buy it anyway. What are they going to do, kick you? Oh wait lol
The annoying thing is that they KNOW the way the rooms work now are problematic, but they decided to give us an unfinished "product" instead (seem they didn't learn from the mistake they made last time).
Can FC's not limit room buying to certain ranks?
To be honest, if my FC told me I couldn't have a room, I'd have left them. It's a bit too dodgy as they're obviously not sure if they want to keep you in the FC.
lol, this is just stupid, im with OP. Why in bloody balls is this tied to the FC housing? /shrug ... maybe I got a little spoiled with the Wildstar housing.
As the Boss of OP's FC, I can assure all of you that it is NOT because we want to kick him out. I have said time and time again since last night that we are buying a LARGE HOUSE, an upgrade from our medium one. I locked EVERYONE out so that nobody wastes 300k gil if they miss a macro spam during the day, or fail to read our Greeting when they log in.
It's not everyday you log in the forums looking for something else and find a post about yourself. O.o
Except this isn't housing. Housing comes later (2.38 I believe some already said). This is Personal Chamber in an FC.
SE just doesn't seem to think about how systems like this can be abused. Kind of like how when "ready check" was first added, you could spam ready check during combat, causing that window to harass all 24 players in CT. No one knew who was initiating it, and you couldn't attack until you minimized the window.
There will be drama. Imagine a small FC of about 12 raiders, where one guy is on hostile terms with 4 or 5 members, but stays because he is personal friends with one or two officers. People roll on gear, have arguments, get a little fight in them, say some mean things. The majority of the FC members talk privately with the leader about getting rid of the guy, and they come to the agreement that he needs to leave. Oh, but wait, he doesn't WANT to leave. And now he has a private room, so they can't kick him. Then you've got a stand off where one guy with a private room tells the other 11 members of the FC to leave.
So now you call SE with an harassment report, right? But you never would have reported this guy originally. You wouldn't have brought it to SE's attention, because the FC can handle it's own drama with the right tools. Now how long will it be before SE responds? What will their "official" policy be? Do they return loot stolen by company chest ninjas? Not that I recall. So how are they going to handle this situation?
Now after a patch or two, FC leaders can kick anyone. But maybe the FC leader gets upset, and kicks a bunch of players he disagrees with. Maybe it's a 200+ member FC, and the owner decides to remove inactive players. How many players will log in, suddenly down 300k with no private room, and file harassment reports against the leader? They would normally have just found a new FC, but since they lost something, they grab SE's attention. What will SE's response be? To punish the FC leader? Or to punish the individual players for "abusing" the report system?
