I know some crafting FCs manage stuff like this through retainers. To buy 229 coke you need 572500 Grand Company Seals.
Let's say you're very lucky and get 29 as drops from dungeons, you'd still need 500000 GCS.
That's ~590 darklight items you have to deliver, or ~2500 FATEs.
It also means you fill your GCS cap 10 times, which takes some time, no matter how you look at it.
The question is, why would someone buy coke and store it, just to sell all of it at a later time for ~50% of what seems to be the normal price?
Makes no sense to me, but I'm always careful around retainers who sell large quantities of expensive/rare items.
Not saying it's not possible, but the chance of supporting a bot or RMT is high in such cases.
I don't know. It does sound pretty shady.
Wish there was a way to tell =/
It's not dumb at all. Because if you put them in the market 1 by 1, then it'll take that much space in your retainer. If you put 9, it will only cost 1 space. So even if you reduce the price on the stacked items, you still save other spaces where you can put some more valuable item to sell.
But it also depends how bad the person need the money. Coz yeah, in this case, you could also put 1 by 1 but you don't put all of them at the same time. It'll take alot more time to sell all of them though so... But I don't think this is efficient because many people sell cokes, and you just get undercut most of the time.
Yup, for these : insert jackie chan picture meme
On my side, i check the price of the lowest unit, and then sell my stack of 9 with a price lower than the unit.
Now I'm ready to buy my personal room
I didnt want to bother to meld my crafting gear and use that coke to get the masters stuff, since 2.3 is.. tomorrow.
And its so easy to get once again, ty brayflox 70 myth!
Or it could be simply some larger FC collecting donations from their members in cokes and then one put the whole amount on sale. In such case though they might have do a bit better research about the prices unless indeed they needed the gil for some urgent purchase ...
My guess is that it may be a reseller in training, someone who's trying to learn to play the market, by buying and selling, and for whatever reason underpriced them.
Also, I like coke and all, but prefer Dr. Pepper. ...Wait... You're not talking about soft drinks are you?
That's essentially how a free-market works. Larger companies buy cheaply in bulk, then resell those items in reasonably sized packages for a slightly higher price (otherwise they wouldn't make profit). You are simply a distributor in a sense.
I get given all those mats from fc friends and so if that happened to that person as well then getting that many wouldn't take to long.
point of fact pre patch I was holding onto roughly 50 of each of those mats at all times as well as having one of everything 2* item crafted from them.
so another option is a crafter who has stopped crafting selling of stuff that is now useless to them.. or maybe they started crafting 3* instead.
of course in that scenario i would expect they would sell them at the normal price regardless. even more so since patch as those mats have tripled in price.
strange awareness of ghosts that no longer haunt this shell.
