The following skills seem to have incorrect descriptions.

Nald'thal's Ward
Memphina's Ward
Byregot's Ward
Nophica's Ward
Llymlaen's Ward
Thaliak's Ward

The descriptions are all "Temporarily increases your chance to obtain ELEMENT crystals."

Where ELEMENT is fire, wind, water, earth, ice, lightning.

The error seems to be that they don't temporarily increase the chance to obtain crystals. No one has ever reported a crystal drop from gathering other than the deaspected ones which are new.

I don't know whether the skills are all broke or if it's meant to be "Temporarily increases your chance to obtain ELEMENT shards." Either way it should be looked into.

It would be nice if they did help get you crystals because the skills are pretty worthless as they are. But that's a whole other debate!

The issue has been looked into as per your request, and indeed you are right. I've just replaced the word "crystals" with "shards" in the English descriptions for all of these abilities, and the amended text will go live in version 1.18.

It turns out this was also a bug in French, so the French team has asked that I extend their gratitude for your help in improving their version of the game as well!

Hmmm on a Q&A for gathering they said it was in fact crystal and they were going to increase the rate at which we obtain them with that ability but that could have been a bad translation too. It has to be anyway. I'm 44 miner and never seen a crystal from it lol =D. Thanks for the clarification .

Is it just me or does this make the ward series of skills somewhat useless? I never got the trait, but sounds like a random proc ability that's a waste of a slot. If I wanted a certain type of shards, I would just shift my elemental alignment. Being able to obtain crystals from gathering would be much more beneficial and helpful to warrant a trait slot, no?

I was under the impression that Shards, Crystals, and Clusters were all classified as Crystals (as according to the Market Wards.). How does the original Japanese describe them as?

The Japanese is structured the same way as the English. The item names are "shard" "crystal" and "cluster", but the item type is "crystal".

Looking at the English version, the name is specific ("Earth Shard"), but the item type is still classified as "crystal".

In Japanese, the distinction is a little clearer since the name "crystal" is written in Katakana, whereas the item type of "crystal" is written in Kanji.

That doesn't really seem to be the case for the "Ward" skills, however, because the Japanese description doesn't even mention anything about shard or cyrstals at all.

Directly translated, it says, "Temporarily increases your wind affinity"

I do admit to the disappointment of knowing that the abilities only increase chances of getting /shards/ - I was hoping that crystals would be involved some day. However, that is neither here nor there.

This is localization forum: If they don't want to leave the ability's description at "Increases affinity" and wants to use the end result "Increases chances of getting [item]" then we're all set here. After the gathering classes get their revamp (After battle and synthesis adjustments, probably), if they still haven't done anything about these skills being rather useless, we can start a new movement in the appropriate place.
