Should botting be somehow legalized?

I recently started a thread similar to this, asking we all be given a level playing field and I pretty much got flamed, so be it. I wonder if the people who flamed me still hold the same opinion being as SE have said the first tickets for the forthcoming convention will be sent to the most active players, who are indeed the very players who use bots for mining shards, the same players who never get punished. Seems to me like those honest people are yet again penalised.

I'm thinking the OP isn't really serious with the "Let's make it legal" idea, it's more of a thought provoking idea encouraged to spark the debate around botting in general.

Citation for commen sense? You are kidding me, right? I am not going to watch the Live Letters and check in which he said it, but beside that is is natural to be that way. Last time he said that, was during the E3 Interviews iirc. If you ever worked in Support/Q&A, you will know, that with time you get more efficient tools/ways to improve, whatever you are doing. Or do you think SE is not using tools to find them, but let people read every single chatlog one by one? O_o

Not sure this argument really supports your previous statement about the number of caught accounts going up because of SE's vigilance. The same logic of using ever more efficient tools works both ways. The hackers can also use more efficient tools to take accounts.

Yeah, S-E loves the botters. That's why they don't want you at their conventions. Not because you're wierd and a conspiracy nut or anything.

I am not sure if SE plans to go the route of other popular mmo's in how they handle cheating but it seems that non teleport hack bots are not being targeted strongly. I trully feel that botting may need to be approached differently then how current mmo's are dealing with it. It is is a wound to those who play the game legitimate working on atmas/farming materials and leveling alts and ruins the entire mmo online side of the gaming industry with all these crap gil sellers/botters.

There are people who are now boldly stating that they have botted near 24/7 since september/october and despite all the reports people put in about these people they are still not punished in any way.

We need legit sources please. I'd like to know who these BOLD people are, otherwise its hard to believe any of this.

Yeah, S-E loves the botters. That's why they don't want you at their conventions. Not because you're wierd and a conspiracy nut or anything.

If you are implying I am using 3rd party software go right ahead and report me. I'm not weird or a conspiracy nut, but when you go online at different times of the day and see the same character in nine ivies farming shards by travelling in the exact same footsteps as before 7 days a week then you will know where I come from. And for those accounts you see closed are for RMT advertised within the game, not the RMT advertised on sites like Ebay. Next time you see a cotton cowl selling for like a million gil you'll understand why.

The only sources for stuff like this are on the forums of the bots that they use. Which leads me to believe that OP is also a botter since most of those places you can only post/read if you have purchased their bots.

Bots make the economy horrible by supplying on overabundance of things people
need that people who are actually PLAYING the game can't compete against.

I hate bots. Why even play the game? There are bots in DUNGEONS for the twelve's
sake. It's out of hand, and glad SE is making a stand. May not be a big one, but it's
getting there. Personally I think they should higher GM's who can be on 24/7 to look
for botters. On Sargatanas, there is a full party of botter farming the lightning elementals
in Coerthas. One bard, 4 white mages, and 3 black mages or something like that. Been there
for ages.
