Umm...This is not a new thing SE is doing by any means.
You get digital content for attending both Blizzcon and SOE Live each year.

Where do we apply the code?
This. But then again the term "expensive" is very subjective. I don't look at $1000 being that expensive, because when I take vacations I normally save much more than that; others might see that number and squee in disgust.
Flights to Vegas are normally subsidized and are extremely cheap. In fact, Vegas is one of the cheapest places to fly in the US because the casinos pay premiums to the airline companies so the tickets to get there are as cheap as can be. Obviously they want all your other money
You also don't have to stay on the strip. You can find a much cheaper hotel that isn't connected to a casino and commute to the Rio for the days of the festival.
Me and my cousin looked it up and we shouldn't have to spend more than $500 each for the tickets/hotel/transportation, and in my eyes that is very inexpensive for something like this. But idk, that's just me.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in Vegas!!!!

I did not receive the code in my e-mail. I contacted customer support, and they were extremely prompt with their reply. I have my code now, less than five minutes later. I used the chat support, btw. The system estimated less than a minute wait but the representative answered me immediately.

So what about players in the EU? Were we supposed to receive codes like this for the London event as well? There are all these notices around that aren't being specific about which event this relates to...
They need to put a header on this stuff saying that it's ONLY for the Vegas fanfest.
When are us lot in the EU gonna hear about anything?
It doesn't cost much to go to vegas unless you live paycheck to paycheck, you don't need to be rich to avoid a weekend there unless you try to gamble. SE isn't the first nor only company to award in-game items for going to their festivals/conventions, Blizzard does exactly the same with Blizzcon.

$120 for a ticket? Not including hotel accommodations? Or driving/flying expenditures? Ehhhh.... :| I mean, I know Blizzcon tix are expensive too, but that's also another place I don't think is worth the price.
I've spent far more on nerdy trips in the past, but usually in those cases it's for multiple things, not just one game.

"Well, it's no Vana'diel, but it'll have to do..."

For the full access of SOE Live it cost around 130-150$. So its not just Blizzcon that is expensive.$120 for a ticket? Not including hotel accommodations? Or driving/flying expenditures? I live rather paycheck to paycheck myself but I've put money aside from the moment this was first announced so I could go. I will have to put some on credit but will be worth it in the end for me. This is something I really want to attend.
