    Fluid Aura

Having a 50 WHM I can see why this ability is nice. But it is often used improperly. What I see is WHM's most but not all will use this ability as a dps move. But what it does is slow down the overall group dps. If you want to fluid aura then sleep by all means but wait until after the first flash or overpower. But if you want to dps and use it. Then you are not only screwing over the tank and his threat generation but any melee dps who you just knocked out of their reach and potentially messed with their rotation.

Thank you for all the heals.

It's a bother even for BLM who since they could a) make aoe and you move the target out of danger 2) they could have that mob as targeto for aoe so make the whole bunch safe c) push the mob out of sight for him making him loose spells

To sum it up: Don't use that

You are right, it shouldn't be used as a dps ability on trash (bosses are different), but to say it shouldn't be used at all is silly.

The tanks I run with know that if they lose an enemy its going to be pushed right back to them with fluid aura. If I don't want the tank taking anymore damage, I sidestep the mob and push it away from the tank to set it up for a sleep.

I never stated that and even the BLM would agree your approach would even benefit his concerns above. But that is rare that it is actually used for this. Having leveled Gladiator, Marauder, and Lancer... it is very rare to see this. I have seen one WHM who would use it then sleep but from my experience it is mainly used as a dps move. It's just as bad as the summoners who run up on a group and let Garuda do the same thing.

This really hinders a group and I don't see the point behind it.

It's just plain WRONG to do that if melee are hitting on a mob, whether it's the main tank, or OT/other melee damage dealer, as well as bug...ahem messing up peoples rotations! As a WHM, I use it to push mobs away/sleep them when soloing if I pull too much aggro, or a DF group is going horribly wrong, or the tank instructs me to use it. Bdp12 is correct, that's a useful manouvere (sp?) too, but otherwise...no, just no >.> As bad as when someone doesn't set Carby to obey and she uses her knockback Which is what I did on ARC, I felt so ashamed >.< And apologised profusely.

WTS degree in effective Fluid Aura usage: 1,000,000 Gil =D

All joking aside, I agree, I wish more people knew how to use Fluid Aura effectively instead of spamming it with impunity.

Last night, I had a healer doing that, which I much appreciated. Problem is that when they sent the mob flying and put it to sleep, I instantly woke it right back up because I was a MRD and I was using Overpower to hold enmity. I don't know if it would have helped, but they could have saved some magic by not sleeping the mob. She or he did a lot of putting stuff to sleep, but my overpower woke it right back up. In my experience, I think the use of Aura correctly has been about 50/50. I had one healer doing it, and I had the aggro AND I was already beating on the target. I had to chase it across the room and behind a rock.

As a healer, I use it to send a mob to the tank. Hopefully, I don't overshoot or miss. It never crossed my mind to push a mob off and sleep it. Will have to try that.

Use Cleric Stance + Fluid Aura as a finisher on trash, or spam it on bosses and other things that can't be knocked back. I don't understand how people can mess up with something so simple.

The WHM is doing it wrong. If the intent of the fluid aura is to set up a sleep, they need to push the mob away from you so you can continue your rotation without breaking the sleep.
