He just finished saying the result, so we already know that. People still did chocobo caravans. Most people didn't even complain about being in different GCs back then either.
I don't really know what to say other than ask you why you and your friends aren't already in the same Grand Company? This wasn't some surprise the devs decided to toss onto us. We've known for a long while now(since Wolves' Den in fact) that this content was gonna be tied to the Grand Companies(and hence the one you belong to).
If they ain't in the Maelstrom, they ain't your friends!
Because me and my friends might not like the lore or the gear, or even the colours of said GC talking without Frontlines in context. With Frontlines in context. there is no problem for me and my friends to be all in the same company once said content arrives... But why should i (or anyone with PvP rank) be punished by losing my PvP rank? Why would i have to be on a 30 days lockout if i ever feel like not doing frontlines for a week and doing some PvP and i want to return to my highest ranked PvP GC since is the one which allows me to use my hard earned 500 hours grinded gear? This is not about what GC to choose, and why we are not already in the same. This is how people has to pass for irrealistic, unfair, player unfriendly, punishing and retrograde restrictions ir order to play with friends.I don't really know what to say other than ask you why you and your friends aren't already in the same Grand Company? I don`t have problems to change to any GC any given time, im just not gonna be able to move from it during 30 days, and if happens to not be the one where i have a descent PvP rank, well, i will not be able to do PvP neither for 30 days. Which sounds completely logic and fair... No, really. The whole requisite for entering Frontlines and the restrictions to move from one GC to the other are just terrible and are going to kill Frontlines on day 1 just as grind killed PvP in day 1.
Is simple, right now, the system seems fair to anyone with low to non-existent PvP participation. But for a level 30 PvP rank player, requiring him to neglect those 30 levels of PvP rank is kinda like a kick in the nuts.
I have already proposed, how hard is to make 1 universal PvP rank. Or for equiping PvP gear, that only the higher PvP rank counts for equiping said rank even if the player is in another GC. Options are many and are needed. But trying to justify SE making players who have invested time and effort in their PvP rank to forget about it just in order to play organized... Is low to say the least.

I am rank 30 pvp and loyal to Maelstorm. Now, i have to choose between join with my friends and lose 4 months doing pvp or fight against friends and wish wolves' den queue don't take long time.
Obviously a pve player who don't bother the pvp, frontline is another queue to get tomestones and alexandrites, for legit pvp players, is an slap in our face.
Ok, morale is a big advantage between pve casuals and pvp players(wintraders included). It's reasonable remove morale and synchr.
Then, why is SE punishing legit pvp players? An example.
Player A rank 40 Maelstrom
Players B, C and D rank 40 immortals
All of them, spent +500 hours playing pvp together, getting gils or SP gear to put the best materia in gear.
Player A switch to immortal because he wants to play frontlines with B, C and D. All was fun and a big entertainment. Now they need a real combat and create a premade rank 40 vs another party same rank via matchmaking.
Oh, player A is rank 0 or low rank, can player A use his best pvp gear in wolves' den? No, just gear pve gear or ilvl 70 pvp useless(110-100pve gear is better).
In a pugs, the strategic full healer could works, but in a premade, you punish the more weak enemy. Just imagine, healer, pld and bard rank 40 and a dragoon wearing AF1. What player will be your focus? Healer? wrong, Bard? wrong. You attack the more weak link. Maybe The dragoon is not wearing AF1 is AF2 with soldiers, a pvp player do more damage to him. In a premade vs premade(not wintrade spam holy, flare LOL), a lost member is less damage they can do it, a healer trying to rezz him meanwhile fighting 3vs4, can be stressful and a pleasure at same time. Adrenaline ftw
Premade pvp is not a lottery, where you rush versus the enemy healer and pray your healer stay alive more time than the other. Strat, awareness, meet your friends and especially your enemies.
From the perspective of Square-Enix is a good move. 8 pvp players, without gear pvp just the skills, can unbalance frontlines. They have got more pvp experiences, strats and the enough cold blood to fight even overwhelmed by the numbers of enemies. So, they force to reset pvp ranks, or at least they can't play together.
What is the next move? Have to leveling three times rank 40 in each company? Release another patch with another company and level again 0-40, oh wait, all is not lost. You can reach 10 ranks more in each company and get a 110 pvp gear useless in a frontline.
Look back, i think i am stupid, i could have done wintrade, get 1 novus and a few atmas and my life in the game would have been more easy, like a casual player.

OP makes a ridiculous amount of sense, and I 100% agree on both points, so dev team will likely not do it. Very unfortunate. Considering how long it took them to finally cave on the concept that HEY, maybe you don't need to be on a specific crafter class to fix gear as long as the appropriate crafter class is leveled and HEY maybe you should be able to fix gear while on a battle class so you don't have to switch classes and find out where all your gear is to fix it... Maybe in like 1-3 years they will finally go "oh, grinding PvP sucks. they've been telling us for years. maybe we should fix that."
Before that, they'll just tell us it's awesome, no plans to change, and make morale useless ... basically go in every direction other than the obviously most sensical ones and take forever to get on a good path.
Want PvP to make sense? First off, make it so everyone has to wear PvP gear, then match people based on win % as well as iLVL of gear, and make it so it doesn't take a million years to get the gear. Make it more competitive and FUN, less of a grind. No one wants to grind forever, especially not when being matched with people who did win trades and have awesome gear. Very few people even want to do win trades because that itself takes forever.
Your idea about being able to equip a certain piece of PvP gear once you've obtained the required rank previously regardless of current rank sounds good, but when it comes to the whole GC thing, that's the dev team trying to get people to commit to something that they (should)find meaningful.
At any rate, I believe they mentioned that they're going to be making significant changes to Wolves' Den as well, so let's wait a week and see what happens.
PVP in a PVE world, all I got to say.
I do it only because I think the gear looks cool. But unlike many others, I don't care if I get it tomorrow or 2 years from now.
Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
