My Understanding is not that he HAS but rather HAD it. When he was dueling people for their weapons, he had the real one. But then the accursed bird creature stole it from him, which he spends the entirety of the Hildebrand like hunting down. Is it not unreasonable that while thinking he managed to reclaim it, he found the imitation?

Rather, is it not unreasonable that Nashau found the imitation buried in the snow. It's not like She nor Hildebrand (or Gilgamesh for that matter) are smart enough to appraise a fake at first glance.
