IT KEEPS HAPPENING THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT GONE AWAY.
I like talking with other players. Usually, anyway.
I do not like receiving unsolicited tells for the purposes of spamming this kind of crap.

Today i finished my 30 day trial. Sadly my biggest complaint with the game is the spam. In 30 days i had 160 people blacklisted(only from spam). If i walked away from my game for more then a few mins i had up to 10 spam tells from the same person. I'd have at least one tell withing 30 seconds of logging in game. Obviously i can't refuse to blacklist because the spam doesnt stop. Yet the blacklist maxes out at 200.
I think it's rather unfair that the only peace from this is opening a separate chat window just for tells to filter out the spam. Of course that kinda defeats the purpose of getting tells from friends. So unless in Free Company or group ppl cant talk.
Honestly idk what to do, this spam attack seems unyielding... something needs to be done. If not a punishment at least give players a spam/block that doesn't count toward blacklist. Its not game breaking but it is a serious problem. Enough that i debated not to re-upping my sub.
I mean, reasonable people with half a brain might decide that going after the SUPPLY of gil and their warehouse-characters would make them stop spamming while they bot more up to 50. Which take a lot longer than rolling another variation of "gdffhd ghdyefh."
And yet... these guys are still here. ANY of them I've EVER checked has had the MINIMUM levels, wears green gear, not a SINGLE grand company with occasional free companies.
Player

Wherever there is a rule, there is a way around the rule. The best system is not one where you attempt to prevent the spammers before they spam through filters or restrictions. The best system is one where the players can report the spammers straight to the computer system (not the moderators) and the system shuts them down when enough reports are received.
I already posted my idea in another thread:

I'm wondering if there's anybody in the game that actually pays attention to these tells anyway.
I can't imagine somebody receiving one of these and thinking "Wowwee! I'm absolutely going to go and initiate a RMT for ingame goods from this totally non-shady looking website right away!".
I get advertising and all that, but is there any evidence that the incessant tells boost their profits? Mostly I've found that it actually turns people away from the concept due to how irritating and invasive they are.
If somebody is going to do something they like to think that they're doing it because they thought of it in the first place, not because they're being told to do it.
Obviously it works, else they wouldn't do it. You might piss off 9 people, but that 10th person might be lazy enough to not farm/craft and just goes and buys the gil.I'm wondering if there's anybody in the game that actually pays attention to these tells anyway.

Now the power leveling ones? That one I don't understand as that is just a blatant "I'm going to steal your account" gig.
I just don't understand why they spam the messages. It's one thing to send a tell and maybe someone will say "oh, maybe I'll buy some gil from these people". But then they send the same message 1 minute later. And again. And again. They're basically forcing everyone to blacklist them. How is that good for business? They'd be much better off just sending each person a max of one message per day. That'd be enough to get their names in front of any potential customers without annoying everyone (including customers) and ensuring that their account is banned ASAP.
My thoughts exactly.
Because its a bot searching for specific criteria. It doesn't know its whispering the same person over and over. It repeats the criteria to hit people entering the zone. So if you don't leave you get stuck reading it over and over till you block them.I just don't understand why they spam the messages. I think I should have the option of charging gil to non-friends-list for sending me a tell... Gil spammers can spam me all they want if they're paying me 1000 gil to do it... (would be auto-suspended if you are leader of a party finder group)
