Yes, you can have different departments working on different part of the game without affecting each other but in essence you are still allocating funding and staffs to those departments. For your example, let say we want to localize a Latin America version, Yoshi would probably have to hire 3 or 4 guys for translation + community outreach and let say that add up to an expense of $500k a year. My point is pretty much to spend this $500k a year on improving content patches and server quality by focusing on their respective departments.

Also I will agree with you that they have proven themselves when it come to successfully relaunching the game, but the promises that they thrown out to grab ahold of legacy and new players during the beta period are still not fulfilled.

Ah, I see your point, you're looking at the money, and not the resources. When I was looking at it the other way. I think then that all boils down to a business decision. Per your example, if having to spend 500K more a year ends up bringing in 2mil a year, then that might be worth the investment.

In the MMO I agree with you, content is key, and keeping your base happy should be top priority, as we are already paying for the game, but if you are able to hire and grow your team, that will lead to more and better content down the line. The payoff isn't instant, but it will come. With the success of XIV, growing the base and keeping the base happy will always be a juggling act. From what we know Yoshi-P wants this game on the X1, and the Mac. I think those are two platforms that would help us grow our base and therefor bring in more content.

I think right now we will continue to get our major updates every 3 months, and right now I think (IMO) that the bigger the base, the more content they will be able to pack in with the expansion, and further updates. Some might not like the idea of waiting for the expansion, but in development reality, it can take several months to spin up (train) new resources.
