I wouldn't discount this part right away; it is tucked away behind another menu. Plus we have seen a number of people with Lv50 jobs coming to the forums who don't even know where the aggro meters were, and those are much more overt.

I do agree with everything else you've said, though. I mean, the very first ARM quest has you buying Copper Ore from the guild supplier, so they had to have known it was available for cheaper via an NPC.

Anyone with that many crafting classes knows that these Ores, along with most of the low level materials, are sold at NPCs.

    This just doesn't fit.

Mind boggling since copper ores are NPC vendor buyable for around 2 gil each. Its awesome that people buy blindly from boards though.

Everyone shooting the OP and claiming he/she is a liar.

Wth is wrong with people here.

You have no proof either way and this kind of "hack" has happened before.

Support here is awful imo and needs to be addressed.

Uh, 1 person out of a few hundred thousand people is kind of hard to believe that it's not user error.

Everyone store your Gil on retainers, in case this hack is true like the OP says. It's happened before, on a large scale, but was fixed by SE It may very well be back.

It's not hard to get any of those classes to 50, it's not like you need extensive knowledge of anything. It's very plausible that someone could grind through all of them without knowing about NPCs selling certain mats, and heaven forbid they not know what one button on the MB interface does.

Just to give an example of how things may not always meet normal expectations - I have all crafts at 50, and one would expect that I'd be swimming in gil, but I currently only have about $300K to my name. I don't actively try to make gil, and I mainly leveled crafts so I could make my own items and the AF. :3

Anyway, whether or not you believe the OPs story, it still wouldn't hurt to be cautious in this case as this has happened before.

Fixed your math, not that it matter in this case.
Yeah... lol that 4:34 am timestamp explains a lot. Thanks for that.

Nobody's really claiming liar, just that they're sceptical. We have no proof, but there was no proof offered that it really did happen either. This kind of hack has happened before, so if it's true it's worrying, but the hack also was addressed a long time ago and very quickly. If support said to report it as a bug, they probably looked at it and didnt see it being a hack.

Unfortunately it's pretty often that people will come and blame their mistake on all sorts of things that don't in any way give them any kind of responsibility. I feel bad for OP for losing 600k but at the same time..regardless of whether it's a hack or a bug, complaining about support without any kind of evidence of what they're saying to other players rather than actually going and reporting it as a bug as they were told to doesnt really solve anything.

That is what I am going to base my guess on. If this is happening (again?) then it is in all likelyhood a bug, and needs to be reported in the same manner as other bugs. Which is done by:

    A. Submitting an in-game Bug Report via the In-Game Support Desk. This way the Dev's can see it and fix it.

And B. Posting a Bug Report in the Bug Report Forums explaining the problem so that other players are made aware of the problem so that they do not fall victim to it themselves.

Finally, to the OP: When dealing with Square-Enix Support, did you use the Email Support, Chat Support, or Phone Support? The type of Support you ended up using will in all likelyhood determine the exact quality of the service you receive.

Email Support: you will receive marginal service, usually rife with pre-scripted responses that really don't help you out.

Chat Support: A tad bit better, and you will likely get successful help from whomever is on duty at the Chat Support Desk.

Phone Support: easily the best support possible with Square-Enix, as you will get to talk to a live Support Agent and get your questions answered by someone over the phone.

The contact number for Square-Enix support is 858-790-7529, and you will need to call between 9am and 6pm PST.
