Doesn't look unpleasant at all.I was trying to draw my character in a swimsuit but something went wrong... it wasn't intended to be this awkward...

I posted the link 'cause it may be slightly unpleasant... Click at your own risk :P
Critique isn't unpleasant. Not in the least! Particularly when it is with honest and good intentions.
The forum and art police, however, I could do without. Safe to say I'll not be adding my own work to this thread, nor posting any more of my gf's stuff. (though if she sees this and still wants to, that's her business!)
If your art isn't stolen from someone else, you have nothing to worry about. If your works are based on someone else's work, just freely admit it and no one will have a problem with that, either.
Except, that's exactly what the person did. They freely admitted to basing their work on the style of an artist they liked but folks still tried to claim they traced and proceeded to verbally lynch them for it. Then toss on the policing of the thread and eh... no.
Plus, your argument sounds like "If you're innocent, you have nothing to hide!" to me. It's not an argument I'm comfortable with.
Sure, she admitted being inspired by the artist. However, she/he claimed to never have traced anything, and that doesn't sit well with me when it's obviously a lie. Of the bottom three .gif images Oniguro posted, the shape of the face, position and shape of the eyes, nose, and mouth (and even the bangs that cover the forehead) match up exactly. If the image was merely used as reference, there would at least be some differences there other than colouring and hairstyle.
Also, she/he kept the fact hidden until after I pointed it out.
Then we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't agree that they match up exactly, particularly when viewed side by side or even when viewed in the morphing gifs (watching the amount of distortion in the morphing gifs actually helped convince me it *wasn't* a trace, actually). It doesn't sit well with me that you're rushing to say it's *obviously a lie* when as far as I can see, it isn't. So yeah, I don't think we're going to be able to agree on this one. I see it completely fundamentally different than you and given that you and Mordecai seem to be the more active posters in this thread, I'm going to leave it to you two to run the show as you see fit without further comment from me.
Take care!![]()

You honestly didn't have to bring that up, it caused a lot of drama in the thread and it was finally returning to just people posting art. I'm pretty sure everyone on this thread would love to leave that event behind.
Also, that being said, I don't know why you roped me into this and why you singled me out of everyone in the thread. I don't particularly post that much on this thread and I gave my opinion on that matter, like others did for that matter. Also, I wasn't even the one who accused the person of tracing, I just took a side. As a matter of fact, I've only made 4 posts concerning the "matter" and I didn't even say anything to the artist, I was just talking to someone about the "memes" defense.
I chose to ignore your "Yeesh this thread got unpleasant." post given the fact that I felt it was out of place since we all stopped talking about that but since you mentioned me without having said a word to me, I felt the need to say something.
