I'm actually a HUGE art fanatic. I draw myself, but I'm not too good at enhancing it digitally from sketch > upload > photoshop, but I do very much enjoy fan art! Even if it's not of myself, I do like to browse...and this thread is simply delightful!

I used to hold contests and such on other games I played that were strictly for fan art, and I kinda wanted to do that here but I wasn't sure how it would work out. Can I even offer a real currency as a prize, should it be in-game such as gil (server limitations) or a code for Wind-Up Bahamut/Dalamud? If it's allowed, I'd do it! That's how crazy I am over fan art, ahaha...even if it's just a commission.

That being said, I'd love to commission something or multiple things from artists in here if anyone is interested. From something relatively simple to something decently complex, I don't mind! Your style is your creativity in all of its uniqueness and that's what I love the most!

That image is a direct trace of Shunya Yamashita's artwork on the left. I couldn't find the exact originals of your other 'drawings', since, frankly, I don't want to spend more time on it than I already have, but I think you'll agree the similarity to Shunya Yamashita's work is quite striking.

That image is a direct trace of Shunya Yamashita's artwork on the left. I couldn't find the exact originals of your other 'drawings', since, frankly, I don't want to spend more time on it than I already have, but I think you'll agree the similarity to Shunya Yamashita's work is quite striking.

I'm not sure if this constitutes as "art theft" here. The styles seem very similar, but this is not the same exact drawing. They are both different. Unless you can 100% w/o a shadow of a doubt prove the artist just traced over the piece in question, then added ears and their own coloring, I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Seems the artist just really loves that style, and is imitating it.

If you look at the bangs, though, the answer to whether or not she did copy/trace becomes quite obvious.

I did place those two images on top of eachother in Photoshop and adjusted the opacity of the top layer, and the lineart matches up perfectly (aside from the hair and ears, of course, and the right cheek is a few pixels wider). You can do the same with the image I posted, if you want, I already saved you the trouble of scaling them to the same size.

Well, this thread just got interesting! If this goes anywhere, it would be a pleasant break from the tons of picture requests that have been going on (seriously, make a new thread people!).

But yeah, a few pages back someone had asked if they were a fan of Shunya Yamashita. I had no clue who they were, so had to do some googling and I found that same picture you referenced. Was a bit shocked as well.

While people like to throw out "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", sure, that's nice, but it's very anecdotal. I've had someone steal my personal pictures before and claim that they were me. That was not flattering. That was down-right creepy and wrong. I doubt the original artist would be thrilled about someone else tracing their work and taking commissions.

First, let me just say though, I adore Shunya Yamashita. I do try to follow his style, I have his Sweet Dreams artbook, and I also own the powergirl figurine by kotobukiya. With that said though, calling it trace is kind of hurtful in a way, since I did the sketch and everything :c But let me just say that I've never traced anything. I'm also sure that if you really look for them, you'll find similarities everywhere on all my other pictures because I do follow his style. But when you said that you couldn't find the exact originals of my other drawings, has it ever occurred to you that it's actually.. an original? I can show you the sketches I did on paper for the pictures I've posted here, but I know it's not going to change people's mind once they made up. Plus, I know people still are not going to be convinced either way.

I missed the first reference someone made a few pages back since I didn't really check everyday. Would've liked to explain then
