Casual=Dont have time to play MMOs properly. I'll admit I'm not hardcore but atleast when I log in a few hours a day (sometimes all day if I have time) I want to do something that isn't shallow, something that takes time and entertains aswell.

Then go do it.
Not one of us is going to try to stop you from traveling for the majority of your gametime if that is what you want to do.
In return, for us, could you kindly please refrain from trying to make sure the majority of our limited gametime is not used on just traveling?
We would prefer to actually play the game with the majority of our limited playtime, thanks!

i posted this on another thread casual does not = don't have time to play. This casual vs hardcore thing is stupid i hate hearing this comparison, I walked into gamestop today and heard some people talking about this hardcore vs casuals has so many different meanings to people its retarded.
So one guy in game stop says he's hardcore gamer cause he plays CoD... Then the other guys says well i like CoD but i am an hardcore SSB player(Super smash bro's) so the other guy says that game cant be hardcore cause it has jigglypuff in it... So now depending on what and who's in your game make's it hardcore now?
Then on these forums people are saying being hardcore is how much time you spend in a game.....cause then some of these arguments don't make sense some of you in other thread's was stating doing time sinks doesn't make you hardcore but spending a lot of time in game does... seems like the same thing to me.
Now i don't think this is the correct way to differ hardcore and casual so here is a shot: My friend is a hardcore sonic player, while i am not, He learns the in's and out's of the level's and try to beat them in the fastest times possible like he beat the new sonic demo on XBL in 57's in 5 tries and says it can't be done faster. Me i just play the game to play the game... So that's how i figure out how the difference between hardcore and casuals are.
Hardcore: People who willing to learn in's and out's of a game and learn all of its mechanics.
Casual: People who just want to play the game for what it is on the outside and not get all technical with it.
This person is correct.

Best thing I've read is thread in the past few pages LOL
EDIT: It seems after reading some more posts, it seems Punainen and Crica are the only recurring people in here actually clearly thinking and making some fair sense.
If people don't like using anima, or have an issue with other players preferances, don't use it. I save mine religously and never let it drop below 90 or at least 80. I use it when I don't have much time to play or need to get somewhere for a party.
It's one of the best choices they made when making this game, fast and effiecient play time. If you want to run or ride everywhere on chocobo like I usually and plan to do, then go for it.
But people are not getting bored of this game because of teleporting and making the game easier to play overall, they're getting bored because "they're" all saying there's nothing to $@!%ing do. They get tired of doing the same thing over and over each day.
This not my opinion though nor my words, I'm just saying, this is what my cousin, my friends, and other players say, which stops them from playing. They all love the anima system though dearly.
There's a simple saying in life to those posting before and after me: "If it's not broke, don't fix it".

I would like to see anima disappear from the game, personally. That, or it being extremely limited, like someone stated, perhaps 4 teleports per day.
If anima stays it will need to be limited greatly to force people to use chocobos and airships to travel, as a gil sink.
If anima stays as it is now with people able to get anywhere instantly, many people will avoid spending gil on other forms of transportation until they run out of anima.. and I can see people still being careful with their spending so they don't have to pay for transportation. "Why pay when you can be anywhere for free?" some might say.
If SE wants chocobos and airships to be used, and I mean.. by more than a few people who will do it simply for the immersion, then anima must change somehow.
If anima doesn't change, I'll still never run out or come even close because I have more than one character to play.
I would have no incentive to spend gil on transportation besides immersion. Not everyone cares about immersion though.

I wouldnt mind a personal Airship which I can use to go from city to city, ofcourse it have to be a reward for a "challenging" but not time consuming Quest, be it storyline or a sidequest. Then you could port from the crystals at camps for like 5 anima to your airship like in FF9
edit: I dont quite get how everyone thinks Anima is unlimited, Im constantly on single digits. I have OCD for not keeping people waiting, more so when people are likely to give you the size ****** 10 boot. Removal will spell death for people who cant stay in a party because they're half a world away keeping everyone waiting.
This entire thread reminds me of a similar thread in another forum for TESV:Skyrim where the "hardcore" want removal of Fast travel even though theres still other means of travel. The "casuals" are happy theres the best of both worlds. Everyone who is either both or neither "hardcore" or "casual" are showing up how childish the "Hardcore" are being.

'United we stand, Divided they fall'
Anima should stay. If chocobos and airships would be placed in. I would reduce anima to 50. But thats all what I would did to balance both chocobos and anima travels. :P
im completely on board with the getting rid of or severely limiting the anima use. say 5 anima a day, every teleport cost 1 anima and it completely refills after 24 hours. i liked that mages had a nice teleporting purpose in FFXI that wasnt " heal my party". that doesnt mean you must spend hours traveling to a specific point, that just means you can do that, or you can ask a mage for a teleport. and i dont see the big deal about it.
i started a thread about this about a month ago. SE do away with the anima, or really limit it. make it a mage thing again.
oh and one more thing, the dev team put alot of time into making this beautiful world, god forbid you would have to spend some time admiring the scenery to get to where you need to go right? doesnt need to be a moogle getting muged every 20 steps for it to be interesting. traveling through the world and becoming imersed in the world that they created IS playing the game. and if your just in it for lvling up and not giving a damn about that then i dont even know why you play.
bottom line, limiting or getting rid of the anima system doesnt hurt the people who want to teleport either, just ask a mage to teleport you. you'll make friends, mages feel like they have a more important part of the economy and you get to go where you want fast. everyone wins. Don't get why some people cant see that..
