Um... longevity of content... um.. = finances...I find it comical that you claim its SE's "Finances" that are preventing this. You really have no clue....
The lockout is there to prevent people being full high allagan in one day... and YES, people WOULD do it like that.
The loot lockout would be nice but then you have fc's who would run everyone through in one day..
The way it is makes the content valid longer, plain and simple. Not "finances" *roll eyes*
people don't pay for games they don't play...
but er... carry on i guess?
Totally agree. Logged in just to "Like". SCoB has become such a hassle to run that its not even fun anymore. Not being able to do the content I wanna do unless i'm with my static at the scheduled times, and the problems that can arise with changing schedules and people leaving and such. I would love a loot lockout like CT instead. Hopefully the devs listen, but I doubt it

SO what you're saying is that the second coil drops should have an atma drop rate for chests? Regardless of what the method, they will have a distribution of loot to what they want. I'm sure everyone has seen Leviathan Extreme. They can remove the progression lock but they will keep the distribution of items the same by doing that. But I'm sure after 10 runs you will complain about being burnt out and complain about how they made the loot system.
Getting everyone in the group 4 pieces of loot per week would make it so you max out of gear in 4 weeks that is why there is no CT type lockout in the current coil.
its not a financial issue, its a game balance issue.
Pretty much every mmo out there has lockouts on raids, people act like this is new
People wont be happy until you can run content every day, but everything has a 1% drop rate to balance it out..... you get loot 100% in every coil run. If there was no lock out you could fully gear several jobs in 1 day... Then people would whine that there is not enough content.
ANd if coil had no lock out, and all the gear had the drop rate of Mirrors from leviathan, you woudl all run here and complain about the low drop rate after the 100th battle and NO DROP...
NO THNX.... I'd much rather do some content, get drops every time, and be done for the week so I can do other things, then to run a dungeon over and over and over for 100+ fights like 1.0 Primals and never see loot.
FFXI had lock outs, and you often got NO loot...
Jeez I'm glad Yoshi doesn't listen to silly demands.
Not enough Facepalms
Issue is, though, most MMOs will let you go back and help people/way higher cap than just 8 man if it's alliance based. The locked out content is usually very specific content, not your MAIN form of progression.
Tier x is locked? Np, go to the other tier.
XI for example people rotated content because it has cooldown of x for some of them, but XI also has a lot of content that ISN'T hidden behind lockouts since the loot remained relevant for longer than 1 update. The problem is, the locked out content in this game also has loot that tend to NOT remain relevant for more than 2 updates at best per design, so locking out ontop of obsoletion AND not being able to help even your own LS/FC is why people complain.
Having content like coil is fine and dandy, lockouts and all.
The game just currently lacks any other pervasive content in the endgame scenario to allow something like weekly lockouts exist. Even the most casual player once at 50 has very little to really do other than mash their heads at coil wether they want to or not.
This is a fair point, and in most MMO's where class progression is tied 1/1 with a single character this makes sense as all effective lockouts are preventing you from stacking gear and blowing through content.
In fact in games like WoW it was common for people to level alts of other classes in order to experience multiple roles / do multiple runs of content with more people.
But you know what this game also allows you to do that other MMOs with those type of lockout systems don't?
Play ALL jobs on ONE character.
You do NOT have to lvl DRG PLD and SCH as separate characters, they're all on one character competing for gear. One of the major selling points of this game is that you don't have to level alts and that's just when talking about getting gear.
The bigger issue by far is being unable to do content with multiple people especially considering FCs have a limit of what? 500+?
Ideally in the future the devs will realize steering ALL of their players towards one set of 4 (This excludes T3 from first coil btw), 8 person raids that could honestly have been split into 2 full dungeons as the only available endgame content for 6 months and then locking it out on a weekly basis wasn't the best idea. Nor was it a better idea to do it a SECOND TIME after people expressed issues the first time they did it.
Unlock it, people will be happy until they have everything they need, than they will cry for "why dont you give us more to do"
You know .... there are other things to do in the game ... and also outside from it.
