There's still a 30 day lockout between GC switches.

They just need to remove Frontline queue restriction based off what GC you're aligned to, and put you in whatever random team needs 1 more player for more efficient and less cumbersome queue system.
Useless restriction is useless.
Takes away the point of fighting for your GC you're aligned to.
The very reason that PvP in general has been challenging for them to put into this game is because it has to fit within the realm and lore of the game world. It has nothing to do with role playing really.
Hence why it's been developed as a competition between GC's, which would obviously have players supporting the GC's that they belong to, especially since PvP ranks, originally created with the Wolves Den, are tied to the GC you support.
This isn't going to change.
Edit:
Okay, so nothing is a 100% guarantee. They could modify things, but we have to accept the limitations and try to work around them, not just call them ridiculous and ignore them. Anything they do to let friends from different GC's play together in Frontline has to somehow make sense in the lore and concept.
Perhaps allow FC members to queue together and fight for the GC that their FC is aligned with?

So you basically saying it is good to cut the legs off a PvP game system with unnecessary restrictions because "It wouldn't fit the lore"?! Yeah that philosophy makes for some awesome design. The very reason that PvP in general has been challenging for them to put into this game is because it has to fit within the realm and lore of the game world. Also where did you even get that PvP has been challenging to introduce because it has to fit the game world?!?!?!?!?!?!??!? Like there needs to be some overarching insane story behind PvP, jesus.. people who want to pvp just want to PVP, it's about competition NOT the story behind it......

If it wasn't challenging, the devs wouldn't have implemented it in the ways they did, would they?So you basically saying it is good to cut the legs off a PvP game system with unnecessary restrictions because "It wouldn't fit the lore"?! Yeah that philosophy makes for some awesome design.

And yes, I get that many PvP'ers just want the PvP and don't care about the details, but in the end, the devs aren't just going to shove a game element in if it doesn't make any sense, especially in a Final Fantasy game. WoW was easy: Alliance vs. Horde. It made sense, and they didn't have to do anything to excuse it. Some other games have had similar systems, but ARR isn't one of them. The devs 'will not' destroy the integrity of their game just to implement a mechanic, no matter what it is.

Point is: is it really worth it to prevent us from Frontlining with our friends just for the sake of immersion?
Lore-wise, the affiliation could be about GC bragging rights & pride -- a competition between GC's with Frontlines acting as war games.
It's not hard.

I agree 110% with the OP. They have to remove these GC restrictions in order to play with friends.
The entire point of group stuff in an MMO is to be able to play with friends. I just don't see why anyone would support a system that tries to break people up.
While I do appreciate that the Dev team always tries to stay lore-conscious, things like this (restricting teams based on Grand Company and having separate PvP ranks for each Grand Company) really hinder PvP. If we look at other games with thriving PvP communities, it is because the PvP is easily accessible. Grab a friend, log in and go mess things up. By forcing us to be unable to play with our friends, there is even less of an incentive to PvP in an already rather dead PvP community, and that's very bad if Yoshida is actually serious about PvP being a "thing" in this game.
