That depends on what you see glamour as. A way to show off achieved gear, or a way to make your character look in a way you like.
While the first may also include the second reason, the second definitely doesn't need the first.

The point (for me) is community, progression, and fun.
Not grinding away at the same boss over and over again so that I have a 1/100 or 1/1000 chance of getting the next ilvl item and progessing vertically upward.
There is no problem with putting ultra rare vanity items in the game that hardcores want to go after so that they can show them off to the community.
There is a problem with a vertical progression game that keeps releasing the next "tier" of equipment behind increasingly grindy content.
That's not a good way to retain players.
Ah, so you just suffer from special snowflake syndrome and you don't want others to be able to get what you lucked out on. Good job destroying any credibility you have in this conversation.
