It isn't that they don't deserve to be helped, it's that they shouldn't be helped if it has adverse effects on the majority. At least in the scope of video games.
You think those people are idiots now, but just wait until you have done a dungeon a thousand times, and just want to get through your daily roulette....
I don't want to sound like a douche, but I experienced the same thing that you did when I was new too.... But, now I just want to get it other with, and not wait 10-15 mins on cut-scenes.
A big problem that FFXIV has, is the interaction between new players and more geared/experienced players. New players obviously wants to experience everything, and they want to take it easy and learn etc... Meanwhile the players that have done it countless times before, don't want to slow down their experience every time there is someone new.
The solution is to somehow let the new players get to experience the content as it's supposed to, and at the same time let the more experienced players get through it as smooth as possible. Maybe have a Duty Finder option for new players or something...

The point is, some people wants do their things fast and don't care the others. Worse, they blame the others for slowing them.
Doing fast things and rely on DF for that, is nonsense and anyway some of you will do it and want force others that way.
Then, "slowing experience" argument for the people who done it infinite times, is silly at the least. You aren't making any experience at all, you are farming rewards/Gil/Tomes/whatever. And using DF for that.
This, and all previous threads on the argument, are a battle between who wants play a game and who wants farm a game. It feels like some player thinks he reached the "elite player" status and the overall game and players must adapt to them because they are so elite.

I encourage every single veteran player here to not do the main scenario roulette. Someone who is watching a cutscene and prioritizing that over 7 other peoples' real time is absolutely disrespectful and unacceptable. You guys seriously, and when I say seriously I mean SERIOUSLY deserve to not be helped out AT ALL. I'd be very happy if CM/Prae turned into absolute graveyards thanks to these self centered noobs. "Where's my right to watch MY cutscenes?" That MY in capital letters is your problem, it's not freaking about you, you are playing with 7 other players. I've been in CM/Prae for the first time too, and it never occurred to me, NOT EVEN FOR A FREAKING SECOND, to hold back my group because I wanted to watch the cutscenes. You guys are a shame for this community.

Slowing down a team because you are inexperienced/not very well geared is natural and acceptable. Drinking a cup of tea inbetween boss and boss (or watching every single cutscene) while everybody basically has to /sit is NOT acceptable.

And to the TC:
It will indeed stop. Except it will stop because you'll destroy any desire for veteran players to help new players. That's how it will stop.
Wanna seek for respect from the veteran players? Show respect first.

You pointed out your problem perfectly.
Hold back? Hold back on what? That duties are pieces of a story that you are going to watch and read. They aren't a race to who ends it first, as you have mistaken them for.
If as community you intend the likes as you, yes you're right.
Here isn't any willing to help anyone, these veterans are willing only to get their rewards and as fast as possible.

Blame it on SE, not the players... It's a farming game...The point is, some people wants do their things fast and don't care the others. Worse, they blame the others for slowing them.

You don't have to be elitist either, in fact I play with many really casual players that hate the wait.... They can't play much every day, and when they do play, they want to get as much done as possible. They go online, and do their daily roulettes etc, and those 10-15 mins might be very annoying for them...
I don't see why new players now should get any special treatment, cause it's not like I haven't been a noob myself. I was treated badly at first too, but I at least tried to keep up the best I could, and I only got complaints by the real elitists... Yes, there are real elitists, but you're not an elitist cause you want something to go smooth and fast. At least not without a good reason...
There is always going to be this problem, unless SE does something that is good for both new and old players... So once again, blame SE, don't blame the players (not everyone at least)

Devs, just remove main scenario roulette, we'll see whether that or the current situation will drive more new players away.
My money's on the new implementation.
