^Everything perfectly stated right here on the issue people have with FF14 right now!Slapping a low drop rate on something and calling it "done" is incredibly lazy game design in this day and age. SE have tried to not do it too often, for the reasons that have been mentioned in this thread. The backlash from Atma more than likely caused them to realise that people are sick and tired of being bent of over a RNG barrel for the sake of extending content/subs. Mirrors and Atma were some real Tanaka-channeling stuff straight out of the dark days of XI.
Totally agree with mirrors/mounts/atma being something you should be able to work towards over time. I might actually have some tangible reason to go back and do EX primals more often, seeing as they got outdated in a single patch cycle (seriously wtf is with that?). It might actually be compelling to work on the Animus bow if I didn't dread going through the RNG again with all of my being.

To be honest, this isn't fun anymore. Yes, it's optional for me to get my novus but it really is just not fun AT ALL. I thought they said their focal points on this was to ensure that the players would enjoy themselves. Who enjoys farming for alexandrite? I'm not asking for my novus by tomorrow at all and I have no problem with being patient but being BORED is not what I pay my subscription for.
Who's farming? Because I'm not. I'm just doing a few daily routines. To be honest, this isn't fun anymore. Yes, it's optional for me to get my novus but it really is just not fun AT ALL. 21/75. Should have it by sometime in July.

More like, WELCOME TO JRPG LOGIC.Yeah, I would wholeheartedly disagree with you on this. All I can really say is: Welcome to the world of MMOs, where rare items are usually rare and grinds are aplenty. There is also content meant for the more "casual" crowd and other things for people who are a bit more skilled at playing. That's just the way it is. :P
to the OP: Get used to it, because you'll be sitting in that seat for a good bit; While you're sitting, I'd like to tell you of a story Circa 2004 FFXI where LV Limit Break items to exceed the level cap dropped at less than 1% drop rate and were in very dangerous areas at the time. You'd be lucky to get a drop that same day.
I would say be grateful, but seems like this may be your first time with something like this. So condolences are extended to you while you learn not everything is handed out to every person and that not everyone's work/effort is counted as equal in the world of an MMOJRPG.
rng is the best way to keep you unsubed , players like the carrot on the stick ....because u can see the carrot...
with RNG items...u have a 1% chance of see a carrot and roll against other 7 players for it ! yay
what? those items dropped in around 1-2hrs pf farming typically, and you're done with it forever.More like, WELCOME TO JRPG LOGIC.

In FFXIV, you probably spend way more than that farming mirrors, and probably don't get it either.
Because it's boring right? Exactly his point.Who's farming? Because I'm not.

No. It wasn't. If I thought that was the only way I would have stated it. I'm aware of myth and dailies to get them. Don't mistake interpretation for implying. I'd rather not get into a "who can deconstruct a paragraph to skew a point just to argue either" so in case you were going to, please spare me and know that my point is that fate grinding for them is so boring I can't fathom why it is attached to some that that souls be entertainment. We are both on the same page. Neither of us like it and we are both avoiding it. Let's NOT be two people on the internet arguing over nothing.
It's actually worse since back before Abyssea, at least when the RNG gods shined on you that gear was relevant for quite a while alongside other sidegrades when you finally got it.
