Patch 1.18 release date announced! July 21

Complaining about dates when have a firm release date "now" ( with a possible 1-2 days delay oh cry me a river) is pointless in itself to talk about

Oh, it wasn't meant as a complaint, I was just trying to stop this whole mid-July discussion (which I agree was pointless since he didn't even mention it).

??? What... still fits the 2 week window, you are aware 2 weeks = 14 day right?

The original mid/late June time frame (June 30th being the absolute latest) would be July 14th. No way around that.

Unless you consider July 7th still late June.

Im well aware Im just getting tired of this whole date debate when we have a DATE now and people still complaing about it.. ( in which makes me throw out Random45651561646646464464 because its really annoying :P)

I've been thinking about this...

I think they really did mean to release FFXIV that way.

The top complaints about this game from reviewers were UI and tutorials or directions on where to go. I've been playing FFXI lightly for a couple of weeks (for the first time), and it's even worse. Maybe FFXI players are so used to it, they don't realize how it is for a new gamer (or maybe they all have controllers). I'm not surprised by how FFXIV was released now, because even the UI at FFIV's opening was easier than FFXI's.

In FFXI, one NPC told me how to get outside the city, but only because I walked up and talked to him. I found my first quest by accident. Nothing shows where anything is. Even the map is hard to understand. I still haven't figured out if I can warp back to town. It's a long walk.

After some internet research, I figured out how to regain HP from fighting and how to hand in quests. You can't just talk to the NPC, you have to actually trade the item they want from you.

Compared to that, FFXIV's UI was a cakewalk at start. WoW (and other mmos) is fairly self-explanatory, because everything is drag and drop. But here, I guess to make it controller friendly, everything is click. It took me time to figure that out. Seems easy now, but when you have no idea whats going on... that alone will make you not want to play.

I'm not saying that UI is the only problem, but it was probably the biggest one keeping people from even trying this game. If you are confused and frustrated from the start, it doesn't make you want to continue and get emotionally invested in the game.

They're removing fatigue in 1.18? :O I must've missed that.

I surprisingly hit fatigue a few times.

I'm not completely sure but seen people talking about surplus (same as fatigue right?) going away in 1.18, but I don't see the actual words in any P.Letter maybe rep response but I don't remember if I've seen one.

I think it would be more accurate to call this an overhaul rather than a patch wouldn't you? So I can understand the delay.

If we're lucky, 1.19 will be out a month after 1.18, and 1.20 will be out a month after 1.19.

If you have a better, well thought-out idea of when patch dates could be released that would get them to us before the end of summer as SE has stated, then please feel free to show it to me. I even went so far as to say if we're lucky. Otherwise, no, you can't LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

Lets put it this way.. with the Patch drawling ever so closely, you can expect another week and a half more of Information about the patch, surely he isn't done yet!, and Bayo just said that They will be revealing something about the Grand Companies "in the near future" Could that Possibly mean Next week we could get more info on them? time will surely tell

Aye, due to the nature and size of the patch, Yoshida did say they couldn't put all of it into a single LftP, so he was going to give us information in increments. Just think of it as getting teased for two weeks by your girlfriend before she gives you the goods (I would kinda hate her at that point though, just a bit). She gives a sneak peak every few days, but nothing you say will make her give you said "goods" any sooner, and you bitch anyway because you're tired of waiting. Except here, your girlfriend is Yoshida, and "the goods" are the patch. But hey, at least both are free.
