Pretty much Saud above. This game has good and bad players also elitist vs nice players. If SE applies something like in DCUO where every run tells ur number, we will see both side,,,,,," hey what's wrong ur a fire class how come ur not hitting for a 1million dps?". Or like " dude u suck, ur an electric dps, u should hit 1million dps right now, what are u doing?" Or " hey buddy I notice ur hardlight dps is liw, do u need help?"

I better prefer a person that perform awfully but actually try and learn from his/her mistakes in my group rather than dude that stare at dps meter and whine. I have beaten many battles/dungeons with members that started to get better during the fight when they asked questions after wipes or other party members just adapted to less experienced members' play style. Also dps must have a bit of brain to slow down his damage sometimes, to attack the right mob etc - not just smash something as hard as possible.
But every time I hear "dps is too low" I know that 1 dude just killed mood for everybody and "dc" or vote to abandon will follow soon.

    P.S.
I often notice that bigger whiners are i90+ geared players that completely suck themselves so they choose another player in group that seemingly has the lowest ilevel and use him/her as scapegoat for inability to clear the raid or dungeon. In lot of these situations scapegoat actually perform much better than the whining weiner.

Conjectures and anecdotal evidences are worthless without something to back them up. The shitty attitude of players concerning DPS comes frm both end of the spectrum here.

I still do not know why this community is fine with having tanks and healers be held accountable for poor play but not dps players. I suppose the reason is that the perception is if a tank or healer severely under performs then you can't win the fight. The same is true for dps players as well though due to the nature of adds and rage timers. (tanks and healers also get recognized far more often for superb play as well, If i tank I get far far more commendations than my infinitely better played dps role, and I do not think that tanking or healing is any harder or easier than dps play, all of them require knowledge of the mechanics of the fight and how to optimize your job.)

Thats exactly the problem I see too.
It's fine to point at tanks and healers for underperforming but doing so with a DPS which is harder without numbers to back that statement up is the big taboo.

So very true. DPS are both under-appreciated and treated in a way that makes a lot of players defensive and reluctant to take advice. Ah well. However, I don't think a parser or DPS meter is needed because:

Can you see Venomous Bite and Windbite up? What about Chaos Thrust? Does your DRG have his Heavy Thrust buff up most of the time you glance over to the party window? Does your SMN/SCH have their pet out? Can you see the SMN DoTs up? Is Bane or Shadowflare ever being used? Dragonfire Dive? I admit it's a bit tough to notice bad MNKs (outside of ignoring positionals), but for some reason I seem to only encounter good-awesome MNKs. Sometimes in low-level roulette I get ones that ignore all positioning but honestly those are so boring... everyone plays derpy in there.

As long as you have a good knowledge of all classes (and I encourage people to level all 8 for this purpose), you most definitely do not need a parser to tell if someone isn't pulling their weight.

Exactly. Everyone should be held accountable for their underperformance. Since it's pretty much impossible to not see how tank and healers underperform, DPS should be given the tool so that we can determine who's being the anchor in the group.

And let's not kid ourselves here, in most group we already know who is said anchor but we can't say anything without fear of being banned/suspended temporarily which isn't fair toward DPS players.

I would like one to self improve. I know there is a set rotation and stuff but maybe I have it slightly wrong and getting far less out of it so if I could see that then I can look into but as of now I just dont know if I am doing good or bad so I dont know if I need to improve or stay as I am.

Honestly I think that a DPS/HPS Meter should be added however, in order to avoid "necessity" Square should....
    1. Make it so that only you can see your own dps and no one else.
    2. The dps meter will not measure anyone elses dps but your own.
    Pretty much a no brainer.

I actually like that. Your own P(insert) for personal use.
