Well in this particular case, the supply is very low. This tells me that the price could potentially be even higher than it is. Nothing wrong with raising the average selling price of an item that is in short supply, unless ya hate makin' money that is.
real talk: in this instance, there are two items for sale. Even if the OP undercut, who cares? When its gone, then the other seller will have the only item listed. I'd want to get rid of the OPs item as fast as possible so that I could totally dictate what I get for my item - the sole item left. At this point the balance of supply and demand is so screwed, the other seller can do whatever they want.
If someone is willing to sell it for much less then you, OR not enough people are willing to spend your price to instantly buy anyone who undercuts you and relist it for more. Then the item is not actually worth as much as you think it is.
Economics 101
The demand is very low because the effort required to obtain a similar level weapon is very low. When was there demand you saw lots of listings.
That guy shouldn't have PM'ed you.
What he should have done is bought your severely underpriced item, and then re-listed it for 95% of what his other retainer is selling the item for. That way he's making a profit on both items and you get your gil.
Everyone would have been happy.
I do it all the time, especailly with the solidary items. Someone dumped a bunch of Tawny Latex off for under 10K at one point. I snagged all of them and re-listed at 17.5K... they sold within 24 hours and I had a nice tidy profit.

If the buyer is smart he'll check the history of the item being sold to get a gist of how much the item really is. Ofc there are other factors that applies to it like when it was sold, how often people buy it, did the recent patch do something to it etc.
I honestly don't see what the op did wrong. All I see is a person(the tell) whining because he can't sell his stuff.
Tl;dr, a smart buyer would understand if the item being sold is under or over priced.
Actually, it's good to have the crafter's name on the weapon, as it draws business to the crafter, at least in theory:
Some Guy: Dang, I gotta get this Sanguine Scepter melded for my relic. I wonder where I can find a goldsmith?
Some Guy: *Checks his gear* Oh, wait, I'm wearing a Rose Gold Circlet! Sez it was made by "Lineage Razor". I wonder if they're online...
Some Guy> hey r u goldsmith? i need meldz plz
>Some Guy Erm... (I'm busy right now.)
Some Guy> i giev u ten million gilz!
>Some Guy brt!
Some Guy: Yup, I'm a savvy businessman. Woulda paid twenty million if they asked!
I haven't been this lucky yet, but who knows? Someday... Someday...
It's a free market, list it for what you want.
Blacklisting or reporting him won't solve the issue; keep doing what you're doing and you'll just keep getting tells like that from time to time.
Nothin....except for:Hey
Not troll question but what the heck wrong with undercut? just peoples rage when he find out he got undercut and sent tell like that? make no sense to me
Of course, its make sense if "You" sell whatever and you got undercut by "that guy" alot
Sure, go ahead, rant and rage you want because you got intended undercut by "that guy" so go and find him and then punch him in the face, you have full right
Items x 6 = 720k.
You decide to undercut to 230k.
What purpose does that serve when you could make 700k instead of 230k? All that does is eventually floor the price and make stuff not worth crafting - Which I guess is on par the course for crafting in this version of FFXIV.
