You don't have to keep randomly trying and refreshing. The times they update the closed/open statuses are 4:00 a.m./ 8:00 a.m./ 1:00 p.m./ 6:00 p.m./ 11:00 p.m. (PDT)

Try at those times, if its not open, try again at the next turnover. The popular servers are usually locked at peak hours so just try when there's less people online.

I see threads frequently about people trying to get into Balmung, or disappointed that they had to wait or start somewhere else. Is this not a sign that people WANT a designated RP server or two. Say what you will about segregation, but it's the best way to quantify our enjoyment, with others like us. We're already ... ahem ... ENCOURAGED to do randomized gameplay through DF and DR. People just want to play with like minded players without ridicule.

Of course I could be way off base, and the OP just has some friends on Balmung XD

Even if you're "lucky" enough to get onto a crowded server, doesn't that mean you have to put up with queue times to try and log in? I'm not really sure how it works.

Oh im just trying to get my 2nd character in there. Lol. Already have my main. And yeah all my rl friends are there. Nothing to do with rp. Though it is fun to watch when I'm bored

In my opinion if you're creating another character within the same account it should let you bypass the locked status. I say this because you can't log two characters in at once that are on the same service account so even if you made 80 characters you're only ever taking up one spot at a time when you're playing. I mean sure each character takes up hard drive space but you can only have 8 per server max on the same service account. FFXI did this. Once you made one character you had to purposely try for a different server or it would automatically put the alt. on the same server as your main.

Check at the hours posted above that way you don't waste time trying to make a character.
